The Mushroom Tree

themushroomtree's Shop Announcement

Welcome to The Mushroom Tree! I'm taking a break from sewing cloth pads to offer up some recycled wool longies for your baby this winter.

What are longies? Longies are an all-natural, bum-friendly, easy-to-use cover option for your baby's cloth diapers. Instead of needing pants AND a cover, you get both in one! When washed with special lanolin wool wash, the longies repel moisture without retaining odor, so unless soiled they won't need to be washed until they lose their retention powers. They also have the unique climate-control properties of wool: staying cool in the summer, and warm in the winter!

Recycled longies are a cost-effective alternative to expensive knit longies. And if your child ruins them, you will only be out a few bucks versus many more! They work just as well, and if you ask me, are just as cute. ;)

How to measure your child for wool longies: Put your child in a regular-fitting cloth diaper. (If measuring for overnight longies, put him in an overnight diaper) Measure as follows:

Inseam: Straighten your child's leg, and measure with one end of the tape parallel with the bottom of your child's foot, and the other ending at the lowest point of the crotch of his diaper.

Rise: Place one end of the tape about an inch above the back of your baby's diaper. Run the tape between his legs and bring the other end to an inch above the front of his diaper.

Waist: Measure around the waist lying directly above the diaper (not on top of the diaper).
