Momi Needles

trindleman's Shop Announcement

Welcome to my shop. I make things for spinners, including Trindles (TM), nostepinne, and niddy-noddies. I do custom orders and I make some one-of-a-kind items as well. My items can be found locally at The Whole Nine Yarns, in Woodstock, GA, and if you are going to a fiber festival, look for Gale Evans' booth (Gale's Art hand-dyed rovings); she has been known to stock a trindle or two.

MOMI IS IN SPINOFF Magazine!!! We are now in the 2009 Fall edition in the Get This section. (Of course, it had to come out the day before we stocked the website). The shafts we will be showcasing include black ebony, brown ebony, striped ebony, padauk, aluminum, osage orange, cocobolo, birch, rosewood, zebrawood, purpleheart, ipe, cherry and walnut. Beads will be in glass, ceramic, metal, wood, coral, fossil ivory, and semi-precious stone. Weights for the trindles range from a tiny 5 grams (0.25 oz) to a whopping 55 grams (2 oz). Whorls are available in top and bottom position, and bottom whorls are available hookless for the traditionalists out there. Shafts are long, typically 10 to 11 inches, and between 3/16" and 1/4" in diameter. The mini- and micro-trindles run about 7" long, and have shafts between 1/8" to 3/16" in diameter. Trindles are heavily perimeter weighted, so they will spin a long, long time without the clumsy weight of a comparably spinning traditional disc spindle (actually, there aren't any comparably spinning traditional spindles). If you don't see something you like, convo me and I will be happy to customize one for you. I can even make them out of your beads, if you have some special ones in mind (I will need three).

Regarding the woods I am offering: I will begin using only responsibly managed wood from certified forests - this will be a gradual process as I use up the wood I already have that may not meet that criteria. I will phase out all endangered woods or wood from areas being aggressively deforested.

NEW ITEM ANNOUNCEMENT!!! - I have begun offering my own version of a niddy-noddy, called a Skein-Du (the scots amongst you will get it). It is a neat device that can skein up two skeins at once, in three different sizes (1/2 yard, 1-yard and 2-yard) with no moving parts. It is also a lot more compact than a traditional niddy-noddy, and hauling it from place to place or shipping it will no longer be an awkward ordeal.

My Trindles(tm) have a lifetime warranty: if one ever breaks or fails for any reason, simply return it to me for repair or replacement, no questions asked, at no charge to you. I reserve the right to determine which option will be selected. Any repaired trindle will have an 'R' added to its number to show that it has been repaired.

Also, because I actually have a day job (I teach science in a georgia high school) I will only be able to work on filling orders on the weekends. Expect your order to be shipped no earlier than the Monday after I get it. In most cases, this will be within one week - if it takes longer, I am likely to contact you and let you know why.

One last thing: after shipping out several trindles that had the hooks pre-tuned, I have received some unexpectedly negative feedback and no positive feedback whatsoever. Accordingly, I am going back to making only untuned trindles. If your trindle is one of the tuned ones (the hook looks like it is off center) and you don't think you like it, send it back and I'll replace the hook with the normal one and zip it back to you, no charge. Live and learn, I guess...
