Most items in my shop are already made and ready to ship out right away. I am taking a break from custom orders for a while so I can prepare for the upcoming summer art fair season. If there is something you need, contact me and I'll let you know how long it will take.
At little bit about my tie dye technique:
I must warn you that I have an almost unhealthy obsession with color and the art of tie dye.
With about 15 years of tie dye experimentation under my belt, I am continually amazed at what happens each time I wash out a batch.
I hand fold ALL designs that I make. This means that I do NOT use a needle and thread to stitch along pattern lines. Stitching will leave tiny holes in the fabric. I find this to be unacceptable (and frankly, kind of like cheating). So I do it the old fashioned way with string and rubber bands and luck.
The dyes I use are Procion Fiber Reactive pigments. This is what all those festival vendors you've seen are using. The pigments chemically bond with the fabric fibers and become permanent, colorfast, and safe to wash with your regular laundry. They also come in a ton of colors, which I find exciting.
We wash out each tie dye batch with alternating hot/cold water rinses and then a final hot water cycle with professional textile detergent to make sure all excess dye is released. I do not use fabric softener (to avoid irritation).
The tie dye process I use takes about 3-4 days, start to finish, and has been fine-tuned over the years to produce my favorite effects. For this reason, custom orders can take up to 2 weeks to ship out depending on my work load at the moment. If you need something custom made by a specific date, contact me to see if it is possible.
Thanks for stopping by, and please feel free to contact me with questions, comments, or words of wisdom.
