winterworks's Shop Announcement
My WINTERWORKS original paper-cuts are individually cut with small scissors from folded tissue paper. They are similar to traditional paper snowflakes with the exception that all of the shapes within the designs are interlocking images of insects, animals and trees. Every one is a bit different but they all come from the same world.
I'm currently experimenting with various handmade papers, mulberry being the most amazing because the leaves imbedded in the paper become part of the images in the papercut. Salamanders end up with the veins of the leaves on their backs. It is all out of my control and I love it that way.
I display the papercuts on hand-painted card stock, laminate them, sandwich them in glass and mount them in shadow boxes.
