JamBag's Shop Policies

Welcome

Although I can't claim JamBag products to be 100% organic, fairtrade, natural carbon nuetral or whatever terms are doing the rounds right now, I have, over the years, developed my own ethical approach to my work.

Back to Basics - Modern jobs and lifestyles are too complex. JamBag is about the more tradtional approach of mastering a skill, making your own product and selling it.

Quality and Craftsmanship - Mass produced products lack quality and longevity. How often have you bought something on the highstreet only to get home and have to sew the buttons on more securely yourself? I take my time over my products - making felt is a faily lengthy and laborious process. Once it's done I put every effort into ensuring buttons, straps, linings and any other fittings are properly attached too.

Sustainability - Every year thousands of tonnes of fleece has to be sheared in the spring or early summer. Wool is a completely natural and replenishable manufacturing material.

Re-use/Recycle/buy locally - Where possible materials and finishings are sourced second hand at car boot sales and charity shops. Otherwise, it's the local market. Even the popular 100% felt animals came about through re-using my own waste felt offcuts.

Naturally Produced - Felt is made using wool, other animal and plant fibreswater, olive oil soap and a lot of elbow grease. That's it.

Shipping

I'll ship when I receive notification of payment. UK, Royal Mail recorded delivery, so you'll have to be in to sign for it or collect from your local sorting office. If Royal Mail consider it delivered I will too. I can you with the ID number so you can track it.
Everywhere else, currently normal post/parcel service via Royal Mail. When sending high value orders overseas I may choose to send 'signed for' and insured so that I can confirm delivery. Please message me if this will be a problem.

Additional Policies and FAQs

It is not recommended that you wash your handmade felt as wool is liable to shrink. As with all wool products bags may gain bobbly effect where they rub against your clothes and this is best trimmed with sharp scissors, not pulled. A thorough trim will make your felt bag look as good as new.
