Welcome to Lady Artisan! What you'll mostly find here are blank journals out of a variety of media (fabric, paper, leather, clay) all very unique and made one at a time with little to no interest in duplication. I might occasionally do a set or series of books and these will be noted in the description but every book is made individually and each is one of a kind in it's own right.
I love paper of all kinds and frequently use a variety of colors or designed papers in my journals. I endeavor to use paper that is useful while still being pretty and/or striking. Many of the papers I use have been tested for, at the very least, writing media to make sure they work well with various types of pens and inks.
I enjoy working with various types of materials for book covers, preferring to make hard cover books. I've been working with leather for around two years now and continue to enjoy developing my skills and techniques in the medium.
You might occasionally find non journal items in my shop, like collages, bookmarks or photographs. Mostly I'll be incorporating these other art forms into my journals.
My goal is to make a unique and functional work of art that you can enjoy for years to come. Other than recycled materials (which will be noted in the description), I use the highest quality materials I can afford that will still keep the item price within a reasonable range. Much of the paper is handmade (purchased from a couple of preferred paper shops) and acid free. I do use Canson Mi Teintes and Fabriano Tiziano pastel paper for a heavier weight paper that accepts most media, wet or dry, as well as Utrecht student quality drawing paper which also works well with most art media but is a little lighter weight and less expensive.
Hopefully, you'll find something that inspires you to write, draw, or paint.
Payment
I take Paypal, checks, and trades. My preference is Paypal although a good trade can be quite fun.
Payment should be made as soon as you've purchased the item and no later than three days after you've completed the Etsy transaction. If you're paying by check, please mail it within three days of your order and convo me to let me know. If you need longer to pay, you can convo me to discuss payment options.
For trades, convo me first to discuss. Once we've come to an agreement, you can click the "other" option under payment to complete the transaction.
Tax will be added to orders purchased by anyone living in Texas.
If you need to cancel an order, please convo me and then be patient for everything to be processed. If you've already paid, I will issue you a credit once I've received the cancellation notice from you. Please think carefully about your purchases before completing the transaction.
Shipping
HOLIDAY SHIPPING
I'm no longer offering shipping for the holidays. If you really want something from my shop for the 2009 holiday season, please contact me directly to discuss. Only items upgraded to Express Shipping of some sort will be available. Custom items are no longer available for the holidays.

All orders will be shipped within three days after receipt of payment, except checks which will be shipped after the payment has cleared my bank, in 10 business days.
Custom orders can take up to two months to complete but I will be in contact with you throughout the process.
My standard shipping method is USPS mail. I use First Class mail for items that are under $25 and lightweight. Items that cannot be easily duplicated (keep in mind that everything is handmade and cannot be reproduced exactly as the original) will also include insurance in the shipping cost for US orders.
International Orders will be sent First Class (no insurance available) if under $25 and lightweight. If you'd like to have insurance added, you will need to upgrade to Priority Mail International or Express Mail International. Please keep in mind that upgrading shipping for International orders will more than double the shipping cost (but you will receive the item much quicker and have the added security of insurance).
Items that are heavier than 7 ounces will be shipped Priority Mail.
Items that are one of a kind and cannot be easily reproduced are shipped Priority Mail with insurance for both US and International shipping or Express Mail International, if the cost is close enough to Priority Mail with insurance. If you need expedited shipping, please convo me with specifics. Expedited shipping costs will be calculated and an additional $5 rush fee will be added.
International customs, duties, and taxes are the responsibility of the buyer and are NOT included in any costs paid to me.
Refunds and Exchanges
Customer satisfaction is extremely important to me. If you receive an item and find that it wasn't what you expected, the colors are different than you thought (computer monitors aren't always accurate) or you just decide you don't want it, please contact me within 7 days to arrange a return. I will issue a Lady Artisan credit (minus shipping costs) once I've received the item back (in its original condition). The credit can be used at any of my shops or my website. Personalized/custom items cannot be returned for a credit unless damaged in shipping.
If you receive your item damaged, please contact me immediately! You can choose between receiving a Lady Artisan credit (minus shipping charges) or I can repair or replace the item with a like item (I'll pay shipping both ways). Please remember that this is a handmade item and any replacement item may be similar but will not be exactly the same as the original.
If you don't receive an item in a reasonable amount of time, please convo me with your concerns. I'll initiate a search with the post office which could take some time. If the item doesn't show up, I'll issue a credit or replace the item with a similar/similarly priced item of your choice (shipping not included).
Additional Policies and FAQs
I'm happy to discuss a custom or personalized order with you. Custom orders take up to two months to complete (if it will take longer, I'll let you know as we're discussing your order) and I'll be in regular contact with you throughout the process.
To request a custom item, please convo me with your idea so we can discuss the specifics. Payment in full will be expected prior to me beginning the project. Once we've agreed upon a design, I'll send updates and photos while I'm making your item. Prior to shipping, I'll send you a photo of the completed item for approval. As noted under "Refunds and Exchanges," personalized/custom items cannot be returned unless the item was received damaged.
I'm also happy to discuss the possibilities of wholesale or consignment. Please be aware that my current pricing structure is right around wholesale cost, so any interest in a pricing discount will require either a contract for several items over a specified time or an order of several items at once ("several" being negotiable at this time).
