SecretLentil's Shop Policies

Welcome

Welcome to Secret Lentil: a freakish blend of Shaker and Punk with a dash of Dr. Seuss.

I sew full time in my drafty studio in Syracuse NY, listing new things here every week. Each piece is unique, designed and made by me without a pattern. Because of the obscure materials I use and the weird ways I work, I don't do custom orders. If my shop is looking empty I do hope you'll stop back again soon. Things happen fast around here.

I send out a not-too-burdensome mailing list with pretty pictures, secret offers, and local notice of shows and studio events. You can sign up here, plus see a complete gallery of my work, find out about visiting my studio, and if you persist, read my blog: http://secretlentil.com

Payment

I accept: Paypal, money orders and Propay.

Why Propay? It allows you to pay online directly using your credit card. To pay this way, let me know after your purchase. I will generate an email invoice (sent directly from them) that contains a secure link for you to pay online using your Visa, Mastercard, Discover or American Express Card. Here's their site: http://epay.propay.com/

Shipping

• Your package will go out a day or two after you pay, and you'll get an email receipt from my shipping service when it does.

• I ship worldwide, happily! You are responsible for paying any taxes or customs duties that your country adds to shipments.

• Within the US I use Priority Mail, and for international shipments, I usually use First Class International.

• If you want to keep shopping I am happy to hold your purchases and ship them all together for a lower price. Just buy your first item, pay for it, then let me know you want me to hang onto it until you're ready to ship.

• Your item/s will arrive handsomely wrapped in 100% recycled paper, with a recycled fabric tie, and a tag made from repurposed letterpress scraps.

Refunds and Exchanges

• I made these things and I want you to love what you bought. And I want to make it easy for you to buy clothing online. So:

• You can return your purchase within a week of receipt as long as the tag is still attached and it's in the same condition. You must email me first so I know you are returning the item. I'll refund your money but not your shipping costs. If you'd rather have credit toward something else let me know.

• I reserve the right to refuse your refund if you haven't met these simple criteria. Please don't abuse my good will. I'm just one person and this is my living.

Additional Policies and FAQs

• SIZES: I put a rough size first, which is fairly subjective. PLEASE rely on math, in this case it is our friend. Modern sizes are useless. I give measurements of the garment itself, you'll want an inch or two for ease (less if it's a tight stretchy thing, more if it's a less forgiving fabric or you like things baggy.) Want help measuring yourself? Just convo me and I'll send you the Secret Lentil Guide to Easy Measuring.

• LAUNDERING: I have a great aversion to dry cleaning. Everything is machine washable and dry-able unless it says otherwise in a listing. I wash my source materials when I get them, and then I wash completed pieces before I list them. Since everything is one-of-a-kind I want to be sure it's all solid and good before you get it.

My other account is DoubleSecretLentil.etsy.com, which, right now, is just sitting there yawning, gaping, lonely.

And since you've read this far, you get rewarded with a favorite quote:

"The struggle between freedom and form is archaic and common to us all. I can understand now that it is fully expressed in every dimension of human experience, even the design and choice of clothes. Perceiving fashion in this way, links it, in my mind, to the fundamental tension within each of us which constantly impels us toward the impossible option of choosing one and abandoning the other. Today I see that even the choice of color, cut, and texture of clothing is an expression of that struggle, an act, which without denying the validity of the social coding it transmits, can also be read as one possible solution to this tension; the map of a compromise."
