MountPhoenix's Shop Policies
Welcome
MountPhoenix is a place where the old becomes new again. The sacredness of wild, mountainous nature meets the transformative process in which the mythical bird, the phoenix, finds a place to build a fire before he dies. He thows himself into the fire, and from the ashes comes a new, reinvigorated being.
Such is the beauty of re-using and recycling, in my mind. Most of the materials I use were headed for the landfill before being rescued, and most of the other materials come from second-hand shops, garage sales, etc. I've been making art all my life, and now in addition to using my work to help pay for my living expenses through college, I use my art to encourage conscious capitalism in a society that has become ignorant of the irreparable impacts of its wastefulness.
It is important to me to learn to live on less, to recycle, upcycle, and reuse, instead of buying something new, including supplies. To me, making recycled art is just one small thing I can do to contribute to the wellness of the world. Every day, another person realizes the importance of buying handmade. Doing so can help reduce the amount of sweatshop labor that produces so much of the Western world's wearables. And by buying goods made closer to you, you can be assured that your purchase will have a much lesser environmental impact.
I highly encourage local purchases, but I gladly welcome orders from wherever you are! I re-use packaging materials and I also will not send an invoice slip unless requested when you order.
Payment
Payment via Paypal is expected within three days of placing an order. If a paypal payment is not received within three days of an order you placed, I will cancel the transaction. Payment can also be made with money orders, or if I know you personally, I will accept a personal check or cashier's check. The only other form of payment I will accept is trade, so talk to me if you are interested.
Shipping
My lowest shipping rates are for the United States and Canada since this is the most environmentally-friendly route of travel from my location in Montana (in the Northwestern United States).
I have higher international rates because (1) the postage costs more, naturally, and (2) burning CO2 via shipping is not my favorite thing, although I certainly don't want to deny anyone service.
If you live in the United States and need your order more quickly, you are welcome to request priority postage BEFORE you place your order. Just let me know first and I will adjust the listing for you. Expect an approximate $5 increase in the postage price.
Shipping to Italy:
I have come to understand that Italy does not have the most effective post system, SO ITALIAN CUSTOMERS MUST PURCHASE AT HIS OR HER OWN RISK! The shipping is high so that I can pay for priority post and/or delivery confirmation. If you are an Italian buyer who has not received your item, please note that I cannot give you a refund, but I would be willing to try to re-create the item you purchased and we can discuss some safer shipping options.
Refunds and Exchanges
ALL SALES ARE FINAL:
I am paying my own way through college entirely, with a little scholarship money and a bunch of student loans, so I hope you will understand my no return policy. If you are not satisfied with a product, please consider working on the item yourself, or having someone else look at it, or you can contact me and we can work something out. I am willing to repair items if you want to send it back to me. I certainly don't want to be putting more trash in the world. (Unless you define trash as something gaudy and beautiful.)
Additional Policies and FAQs
ALLERGY INFORMATION: Please be sure to read the materials used in each listing. I use silver toned and nickel free ear wires. If you are purchasing a textile listing, please note that I have a long haired cat in my home. He sheds a great deal so it is impossible to create something without a few strands of his fur in it, but I do clean my creations when they are done.
My only other request is that if you have a custom order, please give me lots of time, especially if it happens to be during the school year. If you have fabric or anything else that you would like me to transform for you, let me know. I'm almost always up for a challenge!
