In doing something I truly love ---- making handmade soaps ---- I am soooooooo lucky.

My philosophy is this: if a person is going to take the time to produce something by hand, it makes sense to use the finest ingredients. That means I get to work with wonderful oils and rich butters and luscious essential oils!! The final result is pure soap that your skin will absolutely adore.

I also love something else: wrapping my soaps in different ways. The Shea Butter Soaps have several wraps available for the same soap types. Since people like choices and I enjoy the different presentations, this benefits everyone!

Of course, my other wonderful soaps look great when they arrive at your house too!! Some soaps are filled with botanicals (calendula petals, lavender buds, rose petals, rosemary, etc.) or natural scrubbers (ground oatmeal, cornmeal, pumice, etc.).

Amelia’s Soap Co. prides itself in giving abundant care to each batch. With attention to detail, only the finest elements are used in each recipe. Our soaps are detergent free; contain no animal fats; like to dry out fully between uses; enjoy a cool environment; do not like intense sunlight; contain no preservatives; are best used fairly soon after purchase. As with any new product which touches the skin, it is wise to first test it on a small area. Some people have been known to be allergic to the oils of which most handcrafted soaps are made. (We are not responsible for reactions or allergies. And please immediately discontinue use!)

Pretty inserts with ingredient details are discreetly tucked inside the wrappings of each shea butter bar and box. The ingredients are on the back or bottom wrappings of the other soaps.

Each batch is pH tested for safety.

Each bar is dense and will last if placed on a draining soap dish. The extra care is worth it!

Payment

Now for more detailed information – Etsy says it helps to have everyone on the same page; and it can keep nice people from having misunderstandings.

We accept only PayPal for full payment.

Please pay at the time of purchase by clicking on the PayPal link provided at checkout. That takes you directly to PayPal to handle your business.

We would like to be paid within 3 days. If there is a problem, we contact each other through email. If the problem cannot be corrected within the week, we regretfully cancel the order.

Shipping

We ship using the US Postal Service, 1st Class; this also includes Delivery Confirmation on each package.

(Please raise your hand if you think the USPS actually does a good job of delivering packages.)

If you are interested in an upgrade or insurance, please leave us a message at the time of your order. There is a special place for your message to Amelia’s, as you go through the buying process!! We will be happy to do whatever you want. PLEASE be sure to check your email listed with Etsy in the next day or so --- we will want to reconfirm your wishes!

When your address with Etsy differs from your address with PayPal, it takes extra time and communications to sort out the correct shipping address. This may cause unavoidable delays – but we can all work quickly together to smooth the process along. (Here again, please check your email listed with Etsy.)

If there is a problem with your shipping cost, in relation to PayPal or Etsy, we can correct it by sending you a proper invoice through PayPal.

We ship as soon as possible after your payment has cleared PayPal, usually within 1 to 2 days. (We know you want your package as soon as humanly possible! We would too.)

If your soap arrives damaged (yikes!), we are so sorry!! We do our very best to pack things well and tested our packaging prior to selling it at Etsy. For that reason, we are not responsible for damage or loss during shipping.

(Okay, for those with your hands still up in support of the USPS, you can put your hands down now. But please know the postal clerks at our local post office are very helpful – and we think yours are too.)

One more thing ... if shipping is one dollar or more than what you paid, I will refund it back to you through PayPal.

Refunds and Exchanges

The soap at Amelia’s Soap Co. is made out of several types of oils and butters. Due to the nature of soap and the problem of possible tainting/contamination, we are very sorry that we cannot accept returns.

When you don’t like the fragrance of the soap … that is, to us, one of the problems with selling something that a person can’t actually handle before buying!!! And, it is difficult to describe a scent! Just like the sense of taste, the sense of smell is so individual. If you have a question, please contact us through Etsy. We are always happy to help you. It is important to us! Don’t forget there are more descriptions of the scents of the shea butter bars at the end of this section (below).

We reserve the right to refuse a sale to any customer. We do our best to be polite and treat others as we would like to be treated ourselves.

Additional Policies and FAQs

Every effort is made to show our soap, its colors and textures, as true as possible. One of the reasons we often leave the small uneven surfaces on the soap: one can then know it is genuinely handmade.

All aspects of our soap are created by Amelia’s Soap Co., except for our gold seals and white gloss boxes.

Our soap is made in a smoke-free environment.

The names of the soaps reflect their scents to the best of our ability, while retaining some uniqueness and fun. ANOTHER DESCRIPTION OF THE FRAGRANCE OF EACH TYPE OF SHEA BUTTER BAR FOLLOWS:


Bordeaux – warm, ripe, complex (Is this wine or soap?!)
Bella Blossom - captivating florals, medium to low tones
Fleur & Lavender Fusion - high florals and rich tones
Island Mist – mixed high notes, wet, cool
Refreshment - natural with essential oils only; light; crisp
Vanilla Lavender – warm, low, earthy
