Welcome

All my jewelry is handmade right here in my studio. The metals I use are fine silver, sterling silver, solid brass and copper. All pieces that are soldered are done so with high temperature silver solder and are very durable.

I usually choose brushed or satin finishes for my pieces because I think they bring out the form and are very pleasing to the touch and the eye. On occasion I choose a polished finish - I make note of that in the details section of each description.

For care instructions for the different metals and finishes, please see bottom of this page.

STERLING SILVER AND FINE SILVER PIECES- general information

All my sterling silver pieces are fabricated from solid sheet or wire stock and soldered with high temperature silver solder.

I use fine silver for the crochet pieces because of its added flexibility. Fine silver has a higher silver content than sterling.

24K GOLD ELECTROPLATED PIECES- general information:

All of my 24k gold-electroplated pieces are fabricated of copper and/or brass. They are soldered with high temperature silver solder before plating, or assembled from my own pre-plated parts using gold filled wire, and sometimes a combination of the two.

Achieving this special lustrous gold finish requires several steps which I perfected here in the studio. The pieces are given a satin finish, then sent to my custom plater who applies the right combination of nickel under-plating (always used to improve durability), and a high quality 24k gold electroplating over that.

The 24k gold electroplating wears well and does not tarnish.

COPPER PIECES - general information:

All the copper pieces in my collection are fabricated from solid sheet or wire stock and soldered with high temperature silver solder. They are then finished with a lustrous satin hand finish

Below are care instructions for the different metals:

CARE INSTRUCTIONS:

24 K gold electroplate

clean you gold plated pieces with warm soapy water, then rinse- if the piece is made of hollow parts such as beads, make sure to drain any water out and pat dry with a soft non-abrasice cloth or towel - (you can speed up the drying time by using a hair drier. )

Do not use polishing cloths or any abrasives on these pieces - they will harm the plated finish.

If you own an ultrasonic jewelry cleaner, that will work just fine.

Sterling and fine silver

To remove tarnish and bring your silver pieces back to their original luster, I suggest using a liquid tarnish remover you can dip the piece into. This way you will not alter the finish and will you be able to clean inside difficult to reach areas. (these cleaners do not remove the studio applied oxidation, so don't worry). Rinse and dry.

I do not suggest using a polishing cloth on brush surfaces, it's okay on the more polished pieces.

To clean your silver jewelry, you can use soapy water or an ultrasonic cleaner, rinse and towel dry with a soft , non-abrasive cloth. Try to shake out any water trapped in hollow parts and either air dry, or speed the drying up by using a hair drier.

Copper

If you want to brighten up your copper piece by removing the natural oxidation that forms over time, use copper cleaner.
(I think a bit of natural oxidation actually enhances the pieces, but you can choose)
To clean your copper or brass piece, use warm soapy water, or an ultrasonic cleaner, rinse, shake excess water from hollow parts, and towel dry with a soft, non abrasive cloth. You can speed up drying with a hair drier.

Do not use any abrasives as they will alter the original finish.

To prevent the piece from oxidizing as quickly again, you can apply some wax (Believe it or not , even stuff like Pledge works..)
