I will get back to you asap. Please keep in mind I am a one person shop. If something comes up and I can't reply for several days, please bare with me. I will get back to you at the earliest possible time.

MY CREATIVE PROCESS varies with the type of painting I am doing. When doing an impressionistic painting I sit and stare at the canvas until I can't stop my hand from moving - then I paint. Usually they are done using palette knives and the impasto technique where the paint goes on in varying layers so each painting has depth and interest. Gradually, I add multiple layers of glazing where I blend colors and create forms. Next, I add any mixed media such as crystals, glass balls, black lava or other media that will add interest, color, form or texture.

When doing portraits, I use either oil or alkyd (alkyd dries faster but is oil based), and brushes. I use a technique called "tonal painting" or another name for it is "painting without drawing". I work from photographs. Several portraits can be seen on my web site, www.fineartpaintingsbyadelaide.com.

I love taking pictures and have thousands on my computer that I have taken over the years. These are what I draw from to paint my birds, landscapes, flowers, and etc. We live on a cypress lake and also have a place at the beach which gives me access to pictures of Egrets, Herons and other fascinating birds.

My underwater paintings require a lot of research into the types of fish and turtles I want to paint. These paintings are a combination of expressionistic and impasto for the backgrounds, and semi-realistic for the critters.

THE LAST STEPS ARE THE PROPER PROTECTIVE COATINGS:

To extend the life of each painting, after it has dried 3 months for acrylic and six months for oil or alkyd, I apply a permanent varnish. When it's dry, I apply removeable varnish to thoroughly seal the painting.

If the painting becomes soiled from everyday life and losses it's zest, the removeable varnish may be removed and the painting will look new. (Under normal circumstances, this shouldn't have to be done for several hundred years.) Then, hopefully, someone will re-apply more removeable varnish. This is the technique used by many museums to protect their valuable art.

Each painting is signed by me as "Adelaide" on the front unless there is no place for me to sign. In that case, I will put my signature on the back along with all pertinant information about the painting. I also attach information about the canvas and the canvas's manufacturer to the frame.

When I sell an original painting, I retain all reproduction rights.

COMMISSIONED PAINTINGS:

1. I do commissioned paintings from good quality photographs. (Digital are best)

2. All reproduction rights belong to the purchaser.

3. If the purchaser is not satisfied with the painting, it returns to me along with the reproduction rights - and the purchaser is reimbursed for any expenses within three (3) weeks of the return of the painting to me in original condition.

4. PRINTS:

PRINTERS: All prints over 8.5" x 14" are done on a 17" Canon ImagePROGRAF iPF5000, 12 ink printer with PF-01 Technology. This printer is a full-lithography inkjet printer. The iPF5000 is considered a giclee printer, so you can be sure your prints will be of high quality and truely represent the original painting.

Prints no larger than 8.5" x 14" are printed on an Epson Stylus PHOTO RX620 printer. These are generally not limited edition prints but are of excellent quality.

LIMITED EDITION PRINTS: I limit my editions to 500. I hand sign, date, and number each print as it is sold. A personal message can be put on the back of any print. All you have to do is let me know in writing, EXACTLY what you want.

Usually I issue two (2) sizes of each print. Each one is a limited edition of 500.

In the larger edition, 16" is usually the smallest measurement with the largest measurement depending upon the original painting.

In the smaller edition, 12" is usually the smallest measurement with the largest measurement depending upon the original painting.

INK: Pigment based, archival quality "Lucia Ink" by Canon. This ink is highly water resistant. I accidently spilled water on a stack of prints . NO SMUDGING! NO WATER MARKS! NO INK LOSS!

PAPER: Each edition is done on a paper best suited to bring out the features of each print and give it the longest life. All papers are professional quality, archival photo papers. When I list a print on Etsy, I name the exact paper used for the print in its description.

If you're interested in quality, rest assured, I am too!
