Additional Policies and FAQs
F.A.Q.
Q: I loved that scarf you listed a month ago, but it sold before I could save up enough! Could you possible make another?
A: I can make something similar, but every item is handspun and hand dyed, so no two items can possibly be identiical, and some fleeces are aquired through special gifts, contacts and seasonal availability, so it's not always possible to match the wool, either.
Q: I've heard about unethical treatment of animals to cultivate fleeces, and I'm concerned about spinners being unaware of who they're dealing with... So...?
A: No worries there, all my fleeces are obtained from local farmers and, in the cases of speciality fleeces (rabbit, dog, etc) they're all obtained from people who own and love the animals as pets.
Q: What kind of dye do you use?
A: I use dyes from a local dye-maker who works from home. Where possible, the dyes are natural, but some colours are simply impossible to get from natural pigment.
Q: Where are your patterns dervived from? Are they your own?
A: Sometimes. Sometimes I use freeware patterns, sometimes patterns frombooks, and others, a combination! I will often adapt patterns to my taste.
Q: What wheel do you use?
A: I use an Ashford- a New Zealand make, and a Tara upright, an Australian make.
