CPSIA Action Kit and Community Chat

Thanks to all who attended last Friday's community chat. As promised, I have a compiled relevant links and resources to be used in educating yourself, spreading the word, and taking action around the CPSIA. I willl be updating this document from time to time, and will be sure to post updates as they arise.

I have not included a section on proposed exemptions at this point, as I am awaiting confirmation from the CPSC on where we stand exactly. I will update the document as soon as I hear back.

General Agenda for Tuesday's Meeting:

1. Briefing/Update on the CPSIA and the CPSC - To the best of my ability, I will discuss, in layman's terms, what the law says, and where it stands now.

2. The CPSIA Action Kit - Links, resources, contacts. Everything you need to get involved.

3. The CPSIA and Etsy - Where we stand and what we know.

Our intention is to give buyers and sellers alike the opportunity to speak directly and candidly to Etsy Admin. Thanks Matt! It certainly looks like Etsy has done much to support this cause. As someone involved in public health, I have been reading about this issue with much interest to understand the impacts of this kind of legislation on businesses. Sometimes people in my profession can get so passionate about protecting children that all of the implications about how a law is put into practice is not thought through. I certainly hope that this is resolved to the satisfaction and safety for all concerned!
