Etsy's Handmade Blog
Fundraising for Dawn's Boys

A group of Etsians have banded together to raise money for two Louisiana Boys , 8 and 10 years old, who just lost their hard working and wonderful artist Mom in a motorcycle accident a few days before Christmas. Dawn Habisreitinger was an artist with a shop on Etsy.com called JewelrybyDawn.etsy.com. She had been doing well enough on Etsy and eBay to make a living from her art. Now, this group of Etsy artists from all over the world are fundraising for her boys through this blog post and by listing items for sale through Etsy. Search for "Dawns Boys" on Etsy and you'll see all the items listed.

You might buy something from the list or donate straight to the fund via paypal link provided through this blog post. This young 30 year old single Mom had just restored her Slidell, Louisiana home after it was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. She had just graduated from college and was rebuilding her jewelry business. The Etsy Community will miss Dawn greatly and we encourage Etsians to help her sons.

This is so sad :/ I've found about what happened by seeing the thread in the forums today... I'm touched that the Etsy community is so strong and I'm off to see the items listed for the donations. Thanks for posting this article!

This is the way it starts, folks! One 'post' at a time, one donation at a time, one buyer at a time....over a relatively short period of time....WE'VE MADE A DIFFERENCE! The lives of two very young grieving boys have been altered forever with the loss of their mother. We CARED about that. We evaluated a need and acted PROMPTLY to help in our own way.

My thanks to those who organized this and kept track of all the varied and confusing statistics through all the days and nights of the 'For Dawn's
Boys' campaign. This was an arduous, challenging task which you all performed with unwavering love
for a family that you may or may not have even known!

In Gratitude........Susan Anderson

I'm also a single mom, and hearing this story broke my heart. My son has made snowman earrings and would love to make more. 50% of the proceeds from his earrings will be donated to Dawn's boys. Thanks for sharing this sad story and letting our Etsy community pull together for these two boys!

Thank you localcolorist for a wonderful submission to the Storque. Someone recently said that Dawn would have been blown away by the outpouring of generosity to her boys, and I'm sure that is true! Go Etsy members! You're incredible!
