Etsy's Handmade Blog
About Us: Emily aka emilybidwell

Etsy has had quite a growth spurt in the past year, and we have the awkward pictures to prove it. We'll be posting a series of About Us pieces to help you get to know the Etsy admin (and since many of us work remotely, for the admin to get to know each other!). You've seen the admin badge, and maybe you're a bit curious about the person behind it! For more on Etsy's mission and about the company, please see our About page (the link is in the little blue footer of every Etsy page).

This post is all about Emily, who goes by emilybidwell on Etsy and works as the head of the Customer Support Team.  Emily is a very patient and sophisticated lady who has seen so many changes at Etsy, since she was the sixth employee to join the company back in April of 2006.  Her Customer Support team has grown from 1 to 12 people (we'll be doing a lot more of these About Us pieces)!

Besides being a chill presence around the Etsy Labs, Emily also has a great eye for vintage clothes and handmade jewelry (she used to work in the jewelry biz!), and she has a knack for telling hilarious stories. As you can see below in the photos, she's always been into accessorizing with nice jewelry!

I found that pendant, a portrait of two strange children, at a thrift store. I had to turn it into a necklace. Too bad it's hard to see those kids. They were creepy.

Emily, you are the Etsy Admin that I always seem to run into between customer issues & my own questions. You are always so helpful & patient. All of Etsy is lucky to have you. :)

You guys are really sweet!
Yes - my husband Noah was saying that I should change my avatar using this picture. The truth is that Rob set up my avatar using a picture he had of me at a birthday party right before I started working for Etsy. Part of me is very sentimental about this, which is why I have never changed it.

2008 is Emily avatar make-over year!

PS Emily Elizabeth is my cousin's name

ETSY community is truly awesome. I have been dreaming of travel also.... I highly recommend New Zealand - fabulous beautiful country with lots of crafters (check out Christchurch) and super friendly people. What can be better than a country with more sheep than people???? I notice a lot of Australians on ETSY (I seem to shop in Australia a lot) so maybe it could be an Australia and NZ business trip........

Hi, I'm a shopper at etsy and i was sad to hear that cocorricooo shop closed. I bought some items from them and loved them. They were well made and personal. and very unique. I was planning on buying more and now they are gone....who do i speak with?
