All those holiday gifts will need some wrapping! Why not add something extra to make the package even more special? Think beautiful handmade holiday cards, carefully designed tags and bows, screen-printed wrapping paper — things that create that handmade, thoughtful touch.
Sellers can help gift-givers this holiday season with the Holiday Cards and Wrap Showcase.
In order to keep the Showcase on-point thematically, the tool will only pull items placed in the following categories: Paper Goods (e.g., top-level tag being "Paper Goods"), Supplies and Holidays.
- The Holiday: Cards and Wrap Showcase goes on sale Thursday, October 23, 2008, 12pm EDT.
- Go to the Showcase Gateway to purchase a spot.
- This Showcase is will run until from Monday, October 27, 2008, 12am EDT UNTIL Sunday, November 2, 2008, 11:59pm EDT.
- For $15 USD, Etsy sellers can purchase a 24-hour spot, which will be linked from a prominent banner on Etsy's homepage.
- Sellers determine which item will be featured in your Showcase slot. Sellers must use the tool in Your Etsy > Promote > Showcase. Learn more about this process here.
Future Showcases
If you are thinking about planning for other Showcases that may be more appropriate for your items, here are some of the front page showcases we will be highlighting for the holiday season:
- Holidays: Home Decor Showcase: On sale Thursday, October 30, 2008; the Showcase will be live from November 3 to November 9, 2008.
- Think anything to decorate for the holidays: housewares, art, candles, quilts, ceramics and pottery, glass and vintage
- Holidays: Kids and Toys Showcase: On sale Thursday, November 6, 2008; the Showcase will be live from November 10 to November 16, 2008.
- Think fun holiday gifts for children of all ages
- Holidays: Gift Ideas Showcase: On sale Thursday, November 13, 2008; the Showcase will be live from November 17 to November 23, 2008.
- Think gifts for the hard to buy for person on your list.
- Holidays: Gifts for Him: On sale Thursday, November 20, 2008; the Showcase will be live from November 24 to November 30, 2008.
- Think accessories, cuff links, geekery, artwork - anything appropriate for the men on our shopping lists

I'm with you Blomma! It's up to the consumers, and I know I'm buying all Etsy this year for my Christmas presents! I love the notion of all my buying dollars going to individual families instead of a chain store.

I've already bought my Christmas cards on Etsy(from tinaseamonster and greenermecasuals), but if I were buying more I'd go for franticmeerkat.etsy.com -- so off-the-wall cool!
Okay, I admit I wanted to comment on this article mostly because Oct. 23 is my birthday, and seeing it in the hedline made me smile. :)

Yes, this is exciting, I agree stimulate the economy- not much good for us in Australia with a "not so good" exchange rate, but let's get into the spirit of the fast- approaching Xmas

You should be mentioning the fact that Etsy also has reusable FABRIC gift bags in Christmas prints, that are much better for the the earth friendly consumer....All that paper is not friendly to all those trees out there....

Making purchases... gifts within gifts is what makes opening fun!

I love this idea. There are so many gorgeous hand-crafted greeting cards and wrapping items on Etsy! As always, inspirational!

Fabric gift bags?! Brilliant! We all seem to use our paper ones over and over in my family (there is one particularly hideous one--not an etsy creation--I think a Dollar Store--that keeps going back and forth) and it would be wonderful to have some that REALLY last!! Thanks for the idea, ficklefairie--I'll be looking for some of those!
