Introducing a New Featured Column: Earth Tones

So, the Earth: we live here! It's a great place to live, and I think we're all pretty fond of it. However, in order for humans and cute polar bears and all the other adorable species to keep co-existing on this ol' spinning ball, we're going to have to start rethinking our approach or be prepared to go elsewhere.

Thinking about the environment is no longer an optional past time: in order for us to maintain a way of life, we have to seriously think about where our trash goes, the effects of plastic bags, global warming, polar ice caps, oil...it's a lot to wrap your head around. However, there are many ways to start small and do your part at a grassroots level, and we're interested in fostering this line of thinking.

Thus, The Storque is introducing a new Featured Column devoted to this very topic: Earth Tones. We've written articles on upcycling and living green in the past, and this series will umbrella over our past coverage and more, as we lead up to Earth Day and beyond. We've got an amazing series of articles on living green by the EcoEtsy and Trashion Teams, lots of How-tos and tips on shopping green and being eco-conscious. Now is the time to get involved!

Join us today in our Storque office hours at 4pm (Eastern time) and comment below with your ideas!

Thanks for doing this, I know it's important to keep this 'hot' green lifestyle in the spotlight and in the media.. let's not let it be just a passing fad. it's here to stay! ;) ;)

Yes - let's make this trend into something so normal that people will forget there was ever any other way to live. Long live the great green Earth (and long live the bicycle!)

Awesomeness. : D I love it when people come up with creative ways to reduce/reuse/recycle on Etsy (or use organic materials), and it'll be great to see some of them spotlighted!

I love this idea, it would be great to see less trash being thrown out and more of it being made into items we could re-use. I'm sure we etsians could come up with some great ideas! Way to go!!

Etsy is definately the place where you can get THE MOST selection of earth friendly things. It only makes sense that they would have an eco-concious column. YAY ETSY!

I love this idea!! The shop local and buy handmade concepts are important keys to a more eco-friendly earth. It is a great way to monitor how and where things are made as opposed to unknowingly supporting practices that are environmentally and socially detrimental. I am so looking forward to this series!!

Great idea! ALL my items in my shop have been recycled - A BLAST FROM THE PAST and at the same time "keep our earth free from trash".

Buy local. AND support fair trade because that's someone else's local! This is a great set of articles and helps us expand our thinking about what's important for the earth and its people.
