School is almost out, summer is just around the corner, and there are lots of children ready to create and play. The Kids and Toys Showcase will be a great place to find items to entertain a precocious child, keep her clothed in the finest apparel, and ignite some creativity this summer.
We encourage sellers to add items that could would make unique gifts for any child or toy collector this summer: think fun things for kids to do or wear. In order to keep the Showcase on-point thematically, the tool will only pull items placed in the following categories: Children (e.g., top-level tag being "Children"), Clothing, Crochet, Books and Zines, Knitting, Toys, Vintage, and Woodworking.
- The Kids and Toys Showcase goes on sale Thursday, May 7, 2009 at 12PM EDT.
- Go to the Showcase Gateway to purchase a spot.
- This Showcase will run from Monday, May 11, 2009 12am EDT through Sunday, May 17, 2009, 11:59pm EDT.
- For $15 USD, Etsy sellers can purchase a 24-hour spot, which will be linked from a prominent banner on Etsy's homepage.
- Sellers determine which item will be featured in your Showcase slot. Sellers must use the tool in Your Etsy > Promote > Showcase. Learn more about this process here.
Future Showcases
If you are thinking about planning for other Showcases that may be more appropriate for your items, here are some of the front page Showcases we will be offering:
- Weddings Showcase: On sale Thursday, May 14, 2009; the Showcase will be live from May 18, 2009 through May 24, 2009.
- Think all things related to weddings: invitations, jewelry, attire, decor and favors.
- Weddings - The Perfect Gift Showcase: On sale Thursday, May 21, 2009; the Showcase will be live from May 25, 2009 through May 31, 2009.
- Think gifts for the home: housewares, furniture and items that will become heirlooms in the years to come.
- Father's Day Showcase: On sale Thursday, May 28, 2009; the Showcase will be live from June 1, 2009 through June 14, 2009.
- Think great gifts for your dad, husband or father. Cuff links, clothing, accessories, geekery items, bath and body products, and artwork are some great ideas to start.

I too wish I could have played with these unique, awesome handmade goodies when I was younger. I did have a neat biodegradable pen that my Dad got me, it was made of corn. I ate it. :-P

May 5 is Children's Day in South Korea. It's a big day to all the kids. I didn't make a decision what gifts I'd give to my children yet. Maybe the wooden rabbit'd be good to my baby son. Oh, boy, not easy to think about the presents.
