Etsy's Handmade Blog
May Team Grant Winners

Last month Etsy launched the Team Grant program to assist Etsy Teams with their promotions, events and Team ads (or any other fun projects they might be dreaming up!). These monthly Grants will help Teams represent themselves at craft fairs, art shows or other local events, help subsidize team advertising (see the Co-Op Advertising Program for a good model of this) or take part in other opportunities.  We also want to give Etsy Teams promos (stickers, postcards, etc) to help spread the Etsy message to their communities.

After consulting with Ulysses E. Grant, we have picked this month's recipients.  We based our decisions on a couple variables, such as how active and organized the Team is, how this grant might promote their Team and Etsy, and if their proposal falls into our budget.  It was definitely a tough decision (Ulysses was pulling at his beard all night)!  Without further ado, here are the recipients for May!

Arts In Rhode Island

The Arts In Rhode Island team has done a great job promoting each other with contests, promotions and collaborations.  They have organized a booth at the Pawtucket Arts Festival this summer and we're excited to help them out with a Team Grant!

Idaho Indie Works

This Idaho team has organized a wonderful event in the past and has a great blog!  They've come together to sell at the Nampa Farmer's Market every Saturday from May until October.  We think promo items through a Team grant will help them spread the Etsy love and help promote their team.  Yay Idaho!

Etsy Dallas

The EtsyDallas Team has been rockin' lately. They've held promo swaps, have a super active blog, held trunk shows, team meetings, and received some great press — way to go, Dallas! We only wish we could be there to gnaw on a rib, have a brewski and shop at the Beer-B-Q. Sounds like all the ingredients for a hugely successful event!

Connecticut Etsy Team

Next stop on the Mega-Beth tour just happens to be Connecticut!  So it was great timing to get their application. They are organizing a Connecticut Etsy Team Jewelry Spectacular and need some assistance from one, Ulysses E. Grant, to help promote the show.  This team holds regular Meet and Greets, held a craft show this spring and really seems to have fun together! We're excited about this event and you should be, too! If you are near North Haven get to this Jewelry Spectacular early — they are giving away 200 pieces of jewelry to the first people to attend! See their blog for details.

Boston Handmade

Boston Handmade
applied for a grant to help promote their Boston Handmade Marketplace (more info here).   "Over 20 artists, artisans, and craftspeople will be showing and selling handmade jewelry, clothing, accessories, housewares, art, photography, toys, and sculpture. Also on tap will be live music, craft demonstrations, and more!"  Sounds like a great event from a very active, veteran Etsy Team!

Congrats to all these fabulous Teams!  We can't wait to start receiving the next round of Grant proposals. Etsy Team Grants are reviewed and awarded on the 15th of each month. For more information on applying for a Team Grant, check out this Q+A

Are you a member of a Global Etsy Team? Do encourage your Team to apply! We're anxious to receive our first application from a medium or interest based Team! The advertisement grants are a perfect way to really get your Team's name out in publications geared specifically toward your demographic. Finally, a big thank you, of course, to all the Teams that applied — Etsy Teams are amazing!

Hey, the press link for the Dallas Team takes me to a review of an Indiana Jones movie...is that correct? I'm not seeing what it has to do with the Etsy team...
