Attention shoppers!
We heart hearts, so as mentioned in CEO Maria Thomas's article last week, we've decided to share the love in a very important corner of the site: checkout. Now, as you begin the checkout process, you can dip into your Favorites and add them to your Cart.
After signing in, look right below your Cart under the checkout button for the last three available items you added to your Favorites:

Click the 'Add to Cart' button on the items in your Favorites to add them to your Cart right away! Want another look before you buy? Click the item images to peruse the listing pages again.
Or, if you decide you can't buy an item then and there, you can move items from your Cart to your Favorites, rather than removing them and forever losing track of the cool stuff you've found—just click the 'Move to Favorites' link next to the items in your Cart. Later, you can come back to your Favorites and purchase when the time is right. But be warned: we all know the sadness of passing on that one-of-a-kind item when we had the chance and finding it sold when we return!
More improvements to the checkout process are in the works—stay tuned.
Thank you for supporting indie artists and crafters this holiday season and beyond. We hope this makes your Etsy shopping experience more convenient!

what an awesome idea! LOVE it. :) I also love the link to the favorites up next to the link to the cart. Very neat! Maybe I'm just slow, lol, but I only just noticed it today.

Such a great idea! What a nice surprise!!! It's just like the chocolate in the checkout aisle... perfect for grabbing that item you've been drooling over for a while... :D

im really glad we can take cart items and drop them into our faves. i have lost track of so many things with the old process.

I like how favorites appear at the bottom of the cart page. Very nice touch to remind shoppers of all the lovelies.

The shopping cart is still my favorite upgrade and this makes it even better.
TheDailyPincushion
Great Idea! If they decide not to buy then, they can move the item to their favorites instead of abandoning the cart altogether.
Can one of the new improvements be a reminder to buyers that they have an incomplete transaction?

this is a really great idea! plus, it makes the shopping cart page look even prettier. :)

I just noticed this feature this morning as I was shopping. I love it!

Really good about being able to move to favorites and seeing pictures of favorites!!

I think this is a cool feature. Another thing I'd love to see in relation to favorites is a wish list feature. I add things to my favorites both as ideas to buy for my business and as things I'd just like to have. It would be nice if I could make a separate wish list so that my friends and family would know which things I'd like to get as gifts (as opposed to them accidently buying something I intended for the business).

Great idea. I have many potential customers that "add to cart" until they can pay. This will be great for them.
chocolateandsteel
love it. This is going to be dangerous for my paypal account:)

Thanks for the great new feature! I noticed it when I was buying from another etsy seller this morning. That rocks.
The wish list idea is great, or some way to ORGANIZE my favorites. I mark favs for myself and potential gift ideas for others, and there are so MANY mixed in there.

It is a great reminder for shoppers ;Thanks you for this feature wonderful idea.

hmmmmm i like the idea, and thanks.
but i'm thinking it might be better if it were placed after you'd confirmed your first item.
am i right? i can't picture the whole checkout process in my head, ha ha. but if you go off shopping for other things you might be really sad when you come back and the first one got bought out from under you.

I posted these on one of the threads...Figured I'd post it here....
I'm hoping that more people move more things into their cart rather then out of their cards into to their favorites!
:-)
I do like the impulse buy idea though, but not sure I'm nutty about the add to favorites for the items in the cart...Worried that more folks will "wait" especially given the current economy here in the US....
(not to be a negative freak about the whole thing... I do think it looks pretty and for me it is an incentive (darn that fabulous yarn is "reserved" now! gotta move faster!) but I worry that the on the fence folks may stay on the fence.....)
I think it would be cool if it gave a warning that adding it to favorites would remove it from your cart and that it may not be available for purchase in the future (due to the fabulous unique nature of handmade goods)rather than just sinking it to favorites and giving the empty cart splash....
Ok. Going to go craft DVD case from soapbox.... :-)

I like the "Move to favorites" part of this change--that is a feature I'll use often. However my computer/browser considers the extra pictures from the favorites a "security risk" so now every time I go into my cart I have to click extra buttons to say whether or not I want to allow the nonsecure items to be shown. That's rather annoying. :(
ScrapChick08
Awesome--I've been thinking this would be a nice feature. I'm glad to see it happening. I hate to remove things from my cart and then have to go find them to add to my Favorites. Love it! Thanks!
ScrapChick08
Just an added note, after reading some other comments, I agree it would be really cool to be able to have a "My Favorites" and a favorites to store things you're considering buying as gifts. Maybe the gift-list faves could be invisible to others? I have a friend and a mother who shop for me out of my favorites and I'm always afraid they'll buy something I put in my faves for them! Just an idea...
Thanks-love the improvements!

I noticed it yesterday and used it ;) Makes my impulse buying more easy!!! LOL!!!!! :)

Cute update, thanks so much!!! As a trigger-happy buyer and a seller I believe that this will be a lot of fun although I hear my paypal account and husband whimper. You ROCK! http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?...
LazyTcrochet
This is cool. I would like to have a link to continue shopping with the same seller. I just made a purchase and wanted to see what else I might want from their shop. Once I clicked "keep shopping" I had to type in their username again to get back to that shop. A link for that would be great.
PrairiePrimitives
Another great idea! I'm especially delighted to see this work both ways ... moving items from favorites to cart, and also from cart to favorites! :-)
