tinaseamonster, an artist and mother, is like a lot of us — totally dedicated to both her family and her creativity. The result? Spread a little thin, yeah, but living a very fulfilling life. There's a lot of interest in this lifestyle these days — from academics, to the newsmedia, to curious relatives. A photography student approached tinaseamonster with the idea for a project to document her life for six months. The end product, a selection of those photos, is on display at the Corcoran Gallery of Art. Here's what Tina has to say about it:

"It is strange how things happen. I met a mom at the playground because my twins were wearing some of the shirts that I make. She placed a big order for a birthday party for her daughter. One of the parents who came to the party and got a zombie shirt for his son was a teacher at the Corcoran and wrote to me about Valerie's project. The idea that we would have a photographer following us for 6 months was a little scary, but when we met Valerie, it totally made sense. We loved having her around. I loved knowing that the act of mothering and making at the same time was important enough to document."

from Valerie:
"Tina, Jeff and the girls have been great and have provided me with a unique look into an artistic family that is loving and fun."

This sounds like a great exhibit; wish I could make it!
And YES! As another mother living this lifestyle, I think it would be great to see more stuff on etsy families1 It would be great to see more ties within the community of creative, crafting parents and etsy would be an excellent forum in which to start that trend!
