Reminder to RSVP!
[the following was originally posted on 9/25/08]
The holidays are approaching and sellers are looking for tips and tricks when it comes to shipping, particularly international and overnight options. On Thursday, October 2, 2008 at 2pm EDT, we will have representatives from the United States Postal Service (USPS) join us to review the key USPS products and answer our questions.
Some of the areas they will cover for us:
- Time saving techniques
- Overnight and expedited shipping options
- How to save on international shipping online
- Where to order eco-friendly boxes
- How to print postage online
- Walk through the USPS shipping assistant product
This will be conducted via a web-based conferencing site. The conference has a capacity of 100 people. If you want to participate, register at shippingrsvp@etsy.com. We will then send a confirmation to the first 100 emails and send our regrets to the rest. If you aren't included in the first session, don't worry, USPS has offered to conduct an additional seminar (date TBD).
We will then send the first 100 participants the URL and the login information to join the seminar approximately 2 hours before the session. Please note: In order to participate you may need to download an application to see the seminar. Browse to the MeetingPlace Reference Center for more information, including training material, meeting tips, and FAQs. Visit this site to test your web browser for compatibility with MeetingPlace. (These instructions will also be sent with login information.)
We have sent them many of the frequently asked questions we have seen from the forums and support emails so we anticipate a very useful discussion. If you have any specific questions about shipping via USPS please list them in the comments below!

Hello! Thank you! I feel like I need a degree in Shipping when I visit the USPS website.
I can't wait for the time saving techniques.

I won't be able to attend. Will this be saved so I can watch/read about it later?

I got to chat with the USPS folks a bit today about this - I really suggest signing up!

solidio2 - the seminar will be a live walk through hosted by USPS - so it will not be archived. We will follow up with a Storque article with what was reviewed.

I signed up right away when the workshop was announced. When will we know if we made the list? Working fulltime I would like to block out that time in my calendar! Thanks so much for doing this Etsy! I too am lost about shipping!

As of right now, everyone who signed up has a spot. We'll send the login information on Thursday morning. There are a few spots still available - so if you are interested sign up soon!

I can't make it, but whoever does, make sure you ask about cheaper options. They probably won't volunteer that information.

Thank you Etsy! Disappointing we won't be able to sign up. Will there be a transcript available?

We need to get clarity on the tracking of international packages and just what services offered by USPS can be tracked to the destination address.

Yes, I also wanted to know if there will be any sort of report on this, highlighting the items of special interest?
