Who says glitter can't change the world? The original sparkle queen and crafty chica herself, Kathy Cano-Murillo aka craftychica, begs to differ!

It all started when planning a tongue-in-cheek rally to get Ellen Degeneres to embrace glitter, which she apparently has spurned—for it's mess factor, not knowing the many “safe sparkle” alternatives available. A worthy cause in my humble, crafty opinion... but that was just the beginning:

“I tried to think of how we could do something meaningful with this project. Sure it is fun and silly, but with all the energy so many people are putting into it - I feel it needs substance. I wondered how we could help the community. Like donating to charity! Not glitter, money!”

She then discovered Ellen is co-hosting next Wednesday's Idol Gives Back fundraiser to benefit children and young people in extreme poverty and it all came together. She contacted us and the Charity Glitter Art Sale was born!

GET INVOLVED: Starting today, April 2nd through April 9th, you can lend your support by donating a piece of art OR buying the glitter art that's for sale. Here's how:

DONATE ART:
Email Kathy to get started with your item. Here's what she says will happen next: “On behalf of Etsy.com and myself, I'll record the seller's name, what she/he wants to donate, the price. I'll send the seller a portion of text he/she will have to post in the Etsy item description. I'll also give you an official 'Idol Gives Back' donation link for when your item sells. It's all handled online! TIP: The earlier you post your item, the sooner people will see it!”

BUY ART:
Search Etsy for glitter art with the tag “IdolGivesBack” and shop!
“Your money will go towards a good cause, and you have Ellen to thank for inspiring this whole thing!”
