<p>I experienced some culture shock when I moved to the U.S. from Italy. The Americans use <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_customary_units" target="_blank">U.S. customary units</a> as their system of measurement, not the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metric_system" target="_blank">metric system</a>!</p>
<p>I actually knew that measurement was different in the U.S. from Europe (we do learn this in school), but it really hit me only when I went for the very first time to the grocery shop and I had no idea how to buy 1 kg of apples or 1 L of milk, and I don’t even want to talk about temperature!</p>
<p>It may sound silly, but dimensions really do matter in our Etsy shops.</p>
<p>When sellers are listing an item, it is very helpful for buyers to have both types of measuring information.</p>
