I think the article sort of glossed over the importance of researching shipping rates/options before you even list. Most new sellers don't realize they'll need a scale, shipping supplies, and knowledge about domestic as well as international restrictions in order to reach maximum # of customers.

Here is some help with that: http://www.etsy.com/faq_selling.php#payment_methods --- If you need help with shipping cost and you are in the U.S., check out USPS.com.
