MMmm this is a great post. I loved the salt pig comment about keeping out cat hair. One tip on the cranberry sauce is to try adding some minced ginger and very ripe hachiya persimmons (just remove the skins!). I learned how to make this with Myra Kornfield at a recreational class at a culinary institute in NYC, and my entire family bugs me to make the sauce for every holiday. So intensely good. Reusable food bags reign supreme in our apartment. Kudos on all of these ideas.
