I still feel intimidated, but I'll vouch to anyone that the great and awesome Ginger is as kind and helpful as she can be, having had her assistance in assembling fabrics for my first foray in 'real' quilting. She's totally one of my heroes! Knitting gets all the hipster attention right now, she's the only one making embroidery cool. My work isn't nearly as hip, but it's always nice to see handwork getting some respect! There's a couple of amazing embroidery/needlework shops in the DC area that are totally worth the effort.

Jenny's article was wonderful. Anytime we can pass on a tradition as strong as needlework to a younger generation, I'm for it. Where I am from, there is only one small needlework store, it is on the far side of my town and not open on Sundays. I think that was my driving force to start designing my own charts. I don't have to deal with the clique-ish atmostphere that way.
