1. What is Showcase?
Showcase is Etsy’s internal cooperative advertising program. We don't sell outside advertising to companies, but we do sell ad space to our sellers. By purchasing a spot in a Showcase, Etsy sellers can show off their items and help boost their sales and shop awareness. The Showcase is a great way to get more hearts, favorited items, and sales.

2. How does it work?
Showcase spots are sold as 24 hour chunks.

For $15, Etsy sellers can purchase a 24 hour spot in the Main Showcase, which is linked to from a prominent banner on Etsy's homepage.

For $7, Etsy sellers can purchase a 24 hour spot in The Storque Showcase, which cycles through on the homepage of the Storque, Etsy's blog.

For $7, Etsy sellers can purchase a 24 hour spot in one or more of the Category Showcases. As of mid November 2007, we offer showcases in each Category. These Showcases are located at the top of the respective Category's pages.

For $7, Etsy sellers can purchase a 24 hour spot in one or more of the Jewelery Subcategory Showcases.

3. How many Showcases are there at a given time?
Usually there is the Main Showcase, The Storque Showcase, Gift Guide Showcase, Category Showcases and the Jewelry Subcategory Showcase one at any given time, but for holidays and special events, we often create additional themed Showcases.

4. Showcase spots were selling out so fast, I could never get a spot. Did you ever do anything about this?
Because of the great demand for promotional opportunities on Etsy, we started to expand Showcase throughout the site. We will always keep it affordable so we can help as many sellers as possible have access to this excellent promotional opportunity. See bethela's Showcase Deconstructed article.

5. What currency are the $7.00 and $15 fees in?
US Dollars.

6. What time zone determines the twenty-four hours of the day?
Eastern Time in the USA. This is GMT -4:00

7. Can I cancel a spot after I'd made a reservation? Is the fee refunded?
We will only cancel and refund spots under very special circumstances. Deciding you are no longer interested in your spot does not fly. If you feel like you really have a valid case please email support@etsy.com.

8. How many spots can I reserve?
You can purchase up to two spots per Showcase each month. On a given Showcase, each seller can have only one spot per day. For example, your jewelry can be in the Main Showcase, the Storque Showcase, and the Gift Guide all on the same day. But you cannont have two spots in one of those Showcases on the same day.

9. How do I choose which items appear on the Showcases?
The Category Showcases only draw from your items in the corresponding category (with the corresponding first tag). Go to Your Etsy and look for the Showcase link under the Promote section. There, you can manage which correctly tagged items you want to feature. With the Main Showcase and Storque Showcase (and our occasional holiday Showcase), you can change up which items you want featured on the fly and the changes will be reflected live in the Showcase.

10. What happens when an item being displayed sells?
When one sells, it pulls up the next featured item in your shop, then the next, then the next etc… If all your featured items sell and you do not add more, the Showcase will randomly pull another item from your shop (or in the case of Category Showcases, it will pull another one of your items from the corresponding category). This random item will change each time the Showcase is loaded.

11. What happens if the site is taken down for maintenance and I am on the Showcase?
You will be given bonus time to make up for the trouble.

12. How do I purchase a spot?
Step 1: Go to the Showcase Gateway.

Step 2: Choose the Showcase in which you'd like to reserve a spot.

Step 3: Select from the available dates on the top right side of the page.

Step 4: Hit the purchase button.

Yay! You are all set, the fee will be added to your normal Etsy bill.

Still having trouble? Check out the Step-By-Step Showcase Help Guide.

13. I cannot remember my scheduled Showcase day! What Do I do?
Remain calm! No need to post in the forums or email support. Instead, please login to Etsy, click Your Etsy, and check out your Etsy Bill. It will tell you the day of your Showcase and serve as a receipt for your purchase.

13.5 How do I know if the Showcase is right for me?
Some sellers have done very well with the Showcase in terms of exposure and sales, some not so much. We recommend you check out bethela's article Showcase Deconstructed for tips on what considerations you should think about before purchasing. Exboyfriend also did a great 2-part series for the Storque all about online advertising, A DIY-Friendly Guide to Online Advertising.

In this installment of the All About Etsy FAQ Series, we'll introduce the precious few in charge of investigating flagged items on Etsy: the Content folks on the Support Team.

Have you ever wondered what happens when an item is flagged on Etsy? Where do these reports go? Who reads them? What happens next?!

A special task force is in place to investigate these matters, and we are called the Etsy Shop Content Team. This branch of community support is made up of Tim aka dillinger (see his About Us piece) and Amber aka adubois (About Us piece coming soon!). As well as helping users to comply with Etsy guidelines, we field questions about listing policies and work to shape the boundaries of what can be sold on Etsy. Our mission is to educate the community and preserve the integrity of the site.

Here is some information about when and how to contact the Etsy Content Team...

Reporting shops in violation of Etsy Policy:
If you come across a listing you feel breaks one of Etsy's rules, you can click 'Report this item to Etsy' on the lower right hand side of the page. You can also report a shop or listing by sending an email to flagged@etsy.com. Please note that you don't need to expect an email back from us: the Content Team does not respond to emails received in the flagged inbox. Further, once an item or shop is reported, the investigation process is confidential. We take care of it from here on out!

As the flagged emails come in, there are generally four actions we may take:

    1. The report is dismissed - This happens when the listing is clearly not in violation of Etsy policy, and there are no other apparent problems with the shop. If the user is flagged again, we will look into the shop to make sure everything is still in order.

    2. An inquiry is sent to the reported user - Sometimes it is unclear whether or not a violation is occuring. In these cases, we send a questionnaire to the seller to get more information about the shop or listing. After the seller returns the Inquiry, we either dismiss the case, we ask the user to make changes in the shop, or we make an immediate change.

    3. A change request is sent to the reported user - If a shop features items that clearly break one or more of Etsy's rules, we ask the User to edit or remove the problem listings.

    4. An immediate change is made by the Content Team - In extreme cases, we may remove a listing or deactivate an account right away. This happens when there are listings in the shop that strongly oppose Etsy's mission, all items featured in the shop violate Etsy policies, or the shop is being used only as advertisement space.

If you receive an inquiry, be sure to get the requested information back to us! If your shop is within Etsy's guidelines, you have nothing to worry about. If it turns out that there is a violation occuring, the Content Team will let you know what changes need to be made in order to comply.

If you receive a change request, please make the needed changes or write back if you feel this is a mistake. We will work to understand your situation and consider any additional information you can offer.

Please note: if the Content Team makes two attempts to contact a user but does not hear back, some account privileges may be suspended. Once communication is received, we can restore these privileges and works towards resolving any problems. These matters are handled on a case by case basis.

For questions about what can be listed and shop guidelines:
You should read the Selling Policy in Etsy's Help section of the site. Here's the link to info about what you can and can't sell on Etsy.

If you are still concerned or have questions about your own shop, send an email to content@etsy.com. Tim or Amber will get back to you. We'd love to hear from you and help you out!

Everything is great with a bit of color or pizzaz, but sometimes it can get in the way of important communication. We've noticed recently that some users have animations in their emails to add some excitement to otherwise plain letters. Unfortunately, these adorable little kitties and elephants embed crazy code into the emails, which our junk filter sees as SPAM.

Don't worry: we make sure to regularly check our junk bin for the accidentally blocked emails. However, we've compiled some handy tips to getting your message through to Support so we can assist you quickly and thoroughly.

1. Send emails in plain text to be sure you are not blocked by our SPAM and junk filters.

2. Be sure to email us from the email address registered to your account; this allows us to easily access your information and verify that you are the account holder. If you have multiple accounts, be sure to email us from the proper email address.

3. When replying to a message from Support, please don't start a new email: simply reply to the email you received so we can easily view previous correspondence regarding your issue. This saves time and helps us get back to you as soon as possible.

4. Try to include as much information as necessary (without writing a novel, as they say!). Be sure to include any relevant usernames and clearly explain what is happening: if you are receiving any error messages, be sure to send those our way. Sometimes the actual question can get lost if too much extra info is included, so make sure we know what you need help with!

5. If you have relevant links, send them to us: links to sold item listings, links to a particular part of your shop, a link to a search....Link it!

6. Please don't write in all caps: IT MAKES US FEEL LIKE YOU'RE SHOUTING!

Thanks for helping us help you! We're here when you need us.

xo
CustomerCare

For more support Tips and Updates, check out our CustomerCare Featured Column on the Storque.

Dear Sellers:

We love all of the custom items available on Etsy, and we hope that the return of Alchemy will make it easier for buyers to request custom pieces and for sellers to list them. However, there are some things to keep in mind when making and listing custom and personalized items.

With such amazing artists and designers here, there's a great opportunity for buyers to request handmade creations like custom designed invitations and promotional materials. Typically, sellers post the images of the custom item for the buyer to see before they checkout.

This is where sellers need to take an extra step to ensure the privacy of their buyers. If you (the seller) have created an item for a buyer that includes sensitive information such as an address, phone number, or personal email address, please make sure the images do not show the buyer's information!

Sold listings cannot be edited, so the best thing to do is first send the images to the buyer for approval (through convo or email) instead of using them as one of the images in the listing. Then, when you're ready to post the listing, either upload a generic image, or take a photo that doesn't show the private details (take the photo at a further distance so you can't read the text or blur out the info in Photoshop).

Here's how you attach an image to a convo:

This will protect your buyers and prevent you from having to email support to remove the image. It's the whole "ounce of prevention vs. a pound of cure" theory.

Have fun making your custom items!

Dear Buyers & Sellers,
There has been concern in the community for the past couple of days regarding Non-delivery complaints and how they are handled by Customer Support. I have created a FAQ list below (feel free to post more questions in the comments below). I would love to hear from both Sellers and Buyers about what you think Etsy should do about Non-deliveries, and in what ways the Support Team can improve communication with our members when there is a concern. We are going to be making some changes over the next year to the system, and maybe even our policy. We are toying with some big ideas, and we'd like our community to weigh in!

What is the purpose of Etsy's Non-Delivery complaint system?
-To put the Seller and Buyer in touch with each other so that they work out the problem
-To protect Buyers from deadbeat Sellers
-To prevent a misunderstanding from resulting in negative feedbacks and loss of money
-Because Etsy wants to help

Why does a Buyer file a Non-delivery complaint?
- Buyer has placed an Etsy order and paid for it
BUT
- Buyer has not received goods at promised delivery date
- Buyer has Convoed and emailed the seller, but has not gotten a response

What happens when a Buyer contacts a seller with a Notification a Non-Delivery?
- The Seller gets their first Notification of Non-Delivery on the same day the Buyer files it. As of December 2007, this is a guarantee.
- The Buyer gets further instructions to do the following: Contact PayPal, email and Convo the Seller, and update Etsy with changes to the case.

What does Etsy say to the Seller?
- Etsy asks the Seller to contact the Buyer to work out the problem (we will close our involvement in the case when a Seller is working with the Buyer)
- Etsy asks the Seller to provide proof of shipping to us and the Buyer so that we can close the case
- Etsy includes information about our policy regarding proof of shipping and how to close a case
- Etsy asks that the Seller get back to us so that we know that her account is active
- Each case is dealt with on a case by case basis

How many Notifications does a Seller get?
At least 3 and up to 6.

How long does Etsy wait to hear from a Seller or get a reply to our emails to Sellers?
Every case is different, but generally we keep sending emails for about 30 days.

Why would Etsy ban a Seller in a Non-Delivery case?
If after the process described above,
- Seller has not refunded a transaction as promised
- Seller has not delivered goods as promised
- Seller has not responded to our emails
- Buyer has reported that there is no update on the transaction problem
- Seller does not work with the Buyer to create a solution

When does a Seller get banned?
We try to wait at least 24 hours before closing an account after we have sent the Suspension Notice as a last ditch hope that a Seller will respond. This Suspension Notice usually arrives least a month after the Buyer has filed the complaint.

If a Seller does not have proof of shipping, will they get banned?
Generally, a Seller who is in touch with Etsy and their customer will not get banned. Naturally, a Seller must prove that they sent the product, but every case on Etsy is different. We understand that not every Seller gets proof of shipping, and we are happy to help work out a problem. Each situation is looked at case by case.

What if the Buyer filed a Non-delivery complain by mistake, or the Seller never got these emails, or the Buyer never let the Seller know that there was a problem?
It's OK. We can re-open your account. We can close a case. There will be no mark against you or your account. There are a lot of transactions on Etsy, and sometimes there is confusion about how to report something. Not everybody checks emails, and some people have spam filters.

Can Etsy prove that they sent Notification Emails regarding Non-delivery?
Yes. Contact abuse@etsy.com to get the emails and dates on which they were sent.

What happens to the Buyer when a case is closed?
The Buyer may be able to get a refund through a PayPal claim. Etsy will close the Seller's account, and offer some information and resources to where they can get help next. Local authorities can help, as well as FBI cybercrime, where a victim of a money loss can file a report. The Buyer may also file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Etsy is not affiliated or working with these public organizations.

What happens in most Non-delivery cases?
Overwhelmingly, most cases are solved instantly. Our Notifications help with a miscommunication problem, and every case is reviewed individually. Very few cases ever end in a closure, and amongst that group, we feel very strongly that these Sellers do not belong on Etsy. While still rare, there are Sellers on Etsy who have taken money from Buyers without delivering goods. We want to keep it that way in the greater interest of the marketplace and community.

Why isn't this information posted in Etsy's FAQs?
We try to respect the privacy of those going through Non-delivery cases. When a Buyer files a Non-delivery case, both parties are informed of the policies and process via email. The Do's and Don'ts of Etsy are being refined right now, so we should see additions like this when they are re-launched.

What is Etsy doing to make this a more fool proof system?
- We are building a reporting system that will allow Sellers to be notified in ways other than email.
- The new reporting system will allow the Buyer and Seller to update their own case.
- We are improving the checkout system.
- We are improving ways to teach new members about Etsy culture and how to be open to Etsy business communication.

Please comment below with your ideas and constructive criticism! We want to make our policies and processes benefit our Buyers and Sellers!

This article was originally published on February 26, 2008. We've updated the content to be current as of September 8, 2008 for the upcoming holiday selling season. Check out Holiday How-To: Offering Services for more great tips on providing those special extra touches for your holiday shoppers.

How to send a revised invoice is a question that comes up from time to time. There are a few situations in which a seller might need to send a customer an updated invoice before she pays. For example: to offer a discount or sale price without editing the listing, an Alchemy transaction or if the buyer mistakenly chose "other payment" intending to pay by credit card through PayPal.

To get started, here is the info you'll need to gather for the PayPal invoice. This is all conveniently included on the Etsy invoice page under Your Etsy > Sold (orders).

buyer's email address

quantity of item(s)

Etsy transaction ID number (for the "Item ID" field in PayPal)

item title or short description

price of the item

cost of shipping

Here's how to create an invoice in PayPal for your transaction:

Go to PayPal.com and login to your account.*

Click the "Request Money" tab.

Click "Create an Invoice" in the header.

Select "New Invoice" from the drop-down menu and press the "Continue" button.

On this page, you will enter in all the details of the transaction, as noted above. For "Invoice Type," select "Goods." Press "Continue" when you've got all the info entered. (see the screenshot below)

Review the Invoice. Make sure everything is accurate, then press "Send Invoice."

You can save a template of the invoice you just sent if you think it will be a common transaction.

Here is how Step 5 looks:

An email will be sent to your customer with all the details and a link back to PayPal to complete the payment. If you go back to Your Account, you will see an entry in your Account Activity section for the invoice you just sent. This will have a Pending status until the buyer pays you. (Remember, never send the item until you have confirmed payment has been made.)

HOT TIP: A buyer can pay using a credit card even if they're not a registered PayPal member.

*For international sellers who use a version of PayPal localized to their country (such as PayPal.co.uk for the United Kingdom), the steps may be slightly different in the non-USA versions of PayPal. Please consult PayPal's Help Center for more information.

UPDATE: Our canceled transactions form is now automated, and so we should not see a delay this holiday season, 2008 / New Year 2009.

With the record sales over the past months, we in Support have also had record transaction issues to address. During the holidays, we got a little swamped, but Chris (RevolvingDork), gave Support a most excellent holiday present: we now have the ability to turn over your cancellations at a faster rate!

As with any new feature, we may or may not have a few kinks to work out. We are completely up to date, so if you have NOT had your transaction canceled, please re-fill out the report and we will get to it lickity split.

FYI:
To cancel an Etsy Transaction, you must be the seller in the transaction. If you are a buyer, please contact the seller and ask them to do this.

The reports are found in the Help section under the "Report a Transaction" link.
Dear Sellers!

Your Etsy bill is due on the 1st of each month and you can pay it at any time. It becomes overdue on the 15th of the month, at which point you may start to notice some nagging reminders popping up in Your Etsy.

In order to clear up some confusion about billing, we've extended the payment grace period until 12:00 am on the 16th of each month, meaning you will not see any nagging overdue notices until then. Our billing time is in UTC (UTC is Coordinated Universal Time), so that's midnight for folks in London and 7:00 pm on the 15th for the East coast of the USA.

And don't forget, starting on January 16th, 2008 (UTC) we'll be taking action on overdue accounts, so make sure you're current!

Please see this previous post about Etsy billing and the new policy for more info!

So, you've found the perfect item on Etsy, and now it's time to pay! Credit card payments on Etsy are handled at PayPal, a secure online financial service. You can pay with a credit card without signing up for a PayPal account. You can also sign up for a PayPal account while purchasing an item. Signing up for a PayPal account will make your future Etsy purchases super-easy (you will not need to re-enter your credit card information). This tutorial will show you how to pay with a credit card without a PayPal account, and how to sign up for an account.

If you have already checked out, and left that page, and now need to pay for your items, log in to your Etsy Account. Go to Your Etsy. Click "Purchases" (on the left side). Click "invoice" next to the item you want to pay for. Click "Pay with PayPal," and follow the steps in this guide.

If you need more help with the checkout process on Etsy, please see Buying an Item on Etsy from the Help Guide section.

Also, remember that you need to pay each seller individually by going to PayPal separately for each order. Alright, ready? Let's begin!

1. Click "Pay with PayPal" at the end of the checkout process. Even if you don't have a PayPal account, you can use their service to simply use your credit card.

2. Now you are at PayPal. Click "Continue" to pay with a credit card if you don't have a PayPal account.

Many people will not need this step. Skip to step 3 if you see a page asking you to enter your credit card info.

3. Enter your credit card and personal info. Click "Review Order and Continue."

4. Review your order. If everything is correct, Click "Pay (dollar amount) Now."

5. If you do not want to create a PayPal account, click "Return to your Etsy order" and go to step 9. If you would like to create a PayPal account, skip to step 6.

6. How do I pay now?
What?!? Didn't pay immediately? Paying right away makes sellers happy and you're less likely to forget all together (which makes a royal mess of things). And technically, paying immediately is required by the Terms of Use. Besides, paying immediately gets your seller on board to ship out your item that much quicker!

Go to Your Etsy. Click "Purchases" (on the left side). Click "invoice" next to the item you want to pay for. A buyer must submit payment in full within three (3) days if paying by personal check, money order or "other." A buyer who pays by mail with a money order or personal check must send the seller an email or Convo to notify the seller that that the payment is in the mail, within three (3) days of the transaction. If this is not possible, please contact the seller ASAP via email or conversation to see if you can make other arrangements with them, or if you need to cancel the order.

Thank you for your purchase — we hope you will enjoy it! Please contact support@etsy.com if you need further help, and they will be happy to assist you.
We ask that sellers do everything they can to help a buyer, and to honor the contract they've made when a sale takes place. (See our Terms of Use for more information.) However, if a seller cannot proceed with the sale due to an exceptional circumstance, they may refuse service to a customer. In this case, the seller is expected to cancel the sale and refund the buyer, if they paid.

To block a buyer, please send them an Etsy Conversation. Explain to them in an appropriate way that you cannot offer them your services. If they continue to buy from you, Etsy may consider this harassment, and may suspend the account. Please contact abuse@etsy.com if this happens.

Blocking buyers and refusing service should only be considered a last resort, and only in very extreme circumstances. We do not encourage it, but we do encourage communication, understanding, and the right of the seller to protect themselves from harassment. Please proceed with the utmost care.

We live in a world where not everything is perfect. Sometimes things just don't work out the way we wanted and words are hastily spoken. These not-so-perfect moments sometimes end in not-so-great feedback. However, mistakes happen, but things can be fixed. (At least on Etsy!)

Negative and neutral feedback for a transaction doesn't have to be written in stone. Instead, when a buyer and a seller settle their issues with one another, feedback can be changed to reflect the new good vibes. In this instance, we have the Kiss and Make Up feature.

To start the process, first go to your feedback page and find the negative or neutral feedback. There will be a red link underneath for Kiss and Make Up. When you click on this link you will be taken to a form where you can enter new, positive feedback for the other user. A Kiss and Make Up proposal will be sent to the other user via Conversations and they can agree to leave positive feedback as well.

For serious feedback disputes, such as unwarranted or retaliatory feedback, please email abuse@etsy.com and we will gladly help you out.

xoxo
Etsy Customer Care

From time to time, sellers contact the Etsy Support Team and say the shipping cost on their PayPal invoice is not the same as what it was in the listing on Etsy. Unfortunately, contacting PayPal's Customer Support doesn't always produce the best answers (they try to blame us!). To save you some trouble, we've figured out how to enable transaction-based overrides for shipping. This way you can be sure that the shipping in the Etsy listing will transfer correctly to the PayPal invoice:

To enable transaction-based override:

1. Log in to your account at http://www.paypal.com.
2. Go to My Account > Profile > Shipping calculations (in the Selling Preferences column)
3. Select the Shipping Method and click Edit
4. Select Yes for "Use the shipping fee in the transaction instead of my calculator's settings" and press
Save Changes.

Note that if you have not set up any Shipping Calculations in PayPal, the default is to override shipping methods per transaction (you should not need to change anything).

Also, these instructions are for US PayPal; other country-specific versions of PayPal may differ slightly.

For more seller how-tos on shipping, click here.

Hi everyone!

We have great news. Etsy has responded to the community need for an improved search by developing some tools that will allow us to correct or remove tags that either don't qualify or that confuse the search engine.

Searching on Etsy will now be more efficient due to Admins' ability to crack down on tags.

We receive a huge volume of emails about items that have been flagged because they are tagged incorrectly. We understand that most mistagging is a mistake and that when you are tagging your items that you are attempting to get the widest exposure possible for your item. There is no fault in that line of thinking.

However, mistagging items, albeit accidentally, is making it difficult for buyers to search for things. For example, an item tagged as "stocking stuffer" (that is actually a bar of soap) makes the search for handmade stockings impossible. The buyer looking for a stocking finds soap and gets exasperated — and they might leave and not come back.

Due to the extraordinary volume of mistagging, Etsy will be correcting tags without email notification, but we are happy to assist you in any way if you have questions. Simply email support@etsy.com. We will email you if there is a problem.

As we improve this system, we should be able to provide resources that help people learn how to tag. Best of all, we are all going to see a highly improved search function just in time for the holidays.

Further Resources:

Online Workshop: Tagging Recap

Tagging Tips and Guidlines

We've just implemented our reminder system about paying your bill. You'll now see an alert bar just below the header and, if you have fees more than 3 months overdue, an interstitial screen letting you know.

Until the end of this year, reminders are the only consequence of having overdue fees. Starting on January 15 of 2008, accounts with fees that are 2 months overdue will not be able to list new items, and having fees 3 months overdue (or greater) will have their accounts suspended. We'll always contact anyone with overdue fees several times beforehand to make sure things are OK and see what we can work out.

Hey there rubes!

As you may or may not know, there are a lotta tricksters out there looking to separate the fool (that's you) from his money. Well, I'm here to make sure they don't succeed! I'm gonna offer up some advice on how you can better spot and avoid frauds, scams and various forms of flim-flammery online.

Today we're going to talk about the Ol' Money Order/Cashier's Check Hornswaggle. Here's the rundown: Basically an "interested party" will contact you with an offer to buy one of your items. Their interest will often be vague. ( i.e "I am interested in purchasing your STERLING SILVER JEWELRY.") They will usually inquire about whether you will ship overseas and if you accept cashier's checks or money orders. Often they will offer to pay you much more than is necessary to ship express or as fast as possible. Many times they will have other weird requests and instructions like telling you that their money order will have an additional amount added on, and when you deposit it, to withdraw the difference to send back to them. If you get any type of offer like this, beware! These knuckleheads aren't interested in your sterling silver jewelry: just free merchandise and stolen money!

Correspondence like this is almost always a scam! They'll offer you more money to take you off guard and get the item out of your hands as fast as possible. Any money order or check you get from these goof-balls will be a fraud. It will go into your bank, but once it doesn't clear and the jig is up, your bank will hold YOU accountable and these jokers will be long gone.

If you get a message like this, report it to the authorities! (Or at least abuse@etsy.com.) Then we can give these clowns the boot and keep our virtual streets safe for us good, honest citizens!

I'm not feeling so hot this morning (probably from celebrating a thirtieth birthday party last night), but I'm proud of myself for making it all the way to my desk without incident.

During my daily travels through Etsy shops, I stumbled upon today's Etsy Find. Let me tell you, this little gem of a print by ArtByMarilyn really turned my day around! I wish I was one of those lil dudes, kickin' it will my best friend, soakin' up the rays on a tree branch. I need a hug.

We often get this question:

How do I hide an item in my shop without deleting it? I don't want people to buy it because I have a customer waiting for it, or I am going on vacation and want to be sure that customers absolutely don't buy anything.

Here's what you should do:

Your Etsy> Currently for Sale Items> Edit> Don't click on "Finish" on the last page of the listing, rather, click on "Your Etsy" instead.

This will put your item into an "edit mode." When you are ready to have them show again, go to your Inactive Listings and click on "Finish." There will be no new charge for the listing.

Our Support Team is small (though we're powerhouses). We really appreciate your patience and respect while we train our new people, and for any mentoring you can provide via Convos and the forums. Our "newbies" are doing a terrific job and we expect to get even more accomplished, especially in the areas of abuse cases, when they're fully on the saddle. Also, our copyright fairy godmother, Sarah Feingold, helps to handle copyright disputes swiftly and accurately.

As many sellers have noticed already, the August bills were not generated on the 1st. This is because we are creating a new and improved billing system and we are waiting until the new system is ready to go before billing again.

This new system will take into account many things our sellers have been asking for -- charges will match up with monthly statements regardless of refunds, you'll have the option to make partial payments, and we're looking into adding PayPal as a payment method. We hope to have it online this month. We have also been aware of an issue with some international sellers having credit card problems. We are looking into what could be causing this.
