Team Tips: Join the Etsy Teams Newsletter!

Whether you're a member of an Etsy Team, or an Etsy member who wants to stay up to date with Teams events, sales and giveways, there's a new way for you to stay in the know! We've revamped our Teams Newsletters to feature fresh news from Teams!

You can opt-in to our updated Etsy Teams newsletter and receive a fun weekly email with Teams news, sales, events, tips, juicy gossip, tricks, how-to's, special announcements and more. (To be honest, there will be a lot more news and tips and things than juicy gossip - so maybe come for the juicy gossip and stay for the useful information?)

The Teams mailing list is also a great way to learn more about being an active, involved Etsy Team participant, whether you're a part of a local team or a global, interest-based team or both. Basically, it's a simple, easy peasy way to be a good teams member.

To join, just go to the mailing list sign up page, insert your email address, click the Etsy Teams box and hit that Sign Up button. We promise not to spam you or to send an overwhelming amount of email. You can be removed from the list by request whenever you'd like, we don't share info with ugly, evil companies (or any companies, for that matter) and we think you're the bee's knees. Yay!

Etsy Gossip #5

In pleasant news...More Birthdays! Happy bday to Jared yesterday. Happy Birthday, Adam, Julie and Rob White today!

Etsy HQ has a new pet: a huge octopus named Otis has unexpectedly taken over the Storque. This may sound ominous, but he's really quite cuddly.

Deelind, his former mama.

An undisclosed female Etsy admin was mistaken for a nun on the subway platform this morning.

We found out that Bre is a cyborg.

Honestly, this doesn't come as much of a surprise, considering his deep communicado with the internets.

Rob has been wearing plaid pants all week. All the guitar playing in Nashville has gone to his head... where the music trasformed into four bold colors, aligned to cross-cross each other in a perpendicular pattern, and then expressed theyselves on his trousers.

And finally, Vanessa is has another mysterius illness, and she fears she may be slowly going insane. (Thus this post.) However, her spirits were lifted by a surprise bridal shower/crafting night where we made cute pins and gocco thank you cards. (Thanks, friends!)

325 Gold Street has been scandalized by some inappropriate action (as in "action") on the rooftop. It's not anyone from Etsy, even though the landlord thinks it is, because we are a clean-cut bunch and that's a fact.

Waffles made a return to the scene and then ran for the hills when outnumbered by Bre's pancakes.

Rumor has it that Yana Gorbulsky aka Supayana has promised to flash her skivvies at the Etsy Labs on April 19.

Sinohe, Etsy's new accountant and Bronx native, is a RED SOX FAN!!!

In other news, Rob got the shock of his 28 year old life! We gave him a very unique, handmade surprise: somethin' special in a box as well as your entire set of co-workers wearing masks of your face. 'Ello Creepy Happy Birthday.

Etsy Gossip #3

Cnet reports: "Etsy Hipsters Gentrify Space, says NASA." tiinateaspoon has the pictures to prove it.

WOW. We just discovered this amazing video on the future of Downtown Brooklyn (where Etsy is located) in 2012. We are literally surrounded by construction, and video (narrated by Ian McKellan, of all people) talks about all the new things that will soon be here. All we have to say is: we'll believe it when we see it!

This just in: "Plague continues to spread its BLACK DEATH around the Etsy Labs, rendering virtually every Etsy admin incapacitated."

"Anda and Peter Corrie's Baby Grows EARS!"

Experts report that Tara has the best dance moves of all Etsy admin.

Also, general panic at the Labs abounds as admin prepare for their moment in the sun in our new "video box." Prepare to see more videos of us in the near future!

Rumors abound that Etsy founder Rob Kalin has decided to open the Etsy Labs annex at Coney Island, "what with the gentrification and all." Admin are dismayed, having their hopes raised over hints of South Street Seaport, after previous threats of "just the third floor, people!"

Etsy gossip, hot and fresh! Here's what's been kickin' at the Etsy Labs recently.

- While giving a tour of the Etsy Labs, bethela stumbled upon some Brawdville performers (doing their show in the above photo) getting changed "backstage" in the engineering room. (Also known as "the engineer hole.") Awk-ward!

- On Monday, Kelly (aka kfarrell) found a piece of poo stinking up the engineering room. Retribution from Brawdville, or this furry culprit (aka Christine's dog Satchel)?

- Rumors of sexy doings inside Magestica's paper mache narwhal head continue to spin out of control. (Ed. note: NOT A RUMOR.)

- Equally thrilling, though even more based in fantasy, screenshots of a dummy admin panel were posted off-site, much to the "excitement" of some Etsians.

- Scandal! It was recently announced that the Etsy Labs has been drinking (gasp!) mere tap water in place of the bottled goodness we normally consume. The Poland Spring dispenser was surruptitiously filled with tap water, and since no one noticed the change, we're putting our future H20 consumption to a vote.

- We had visitors to the Labs! magnoliastreet and her boyfriend Andres came by from Chicago and were joined by Narchi.

- CAT FIGHT! Admins Mary and Danielle had a "Blythe off," competing to see who had the better Blythe Treasury. Both Treasuries were pretty good, so no winner was crowned.

- After discovering that Vanessa's computer had a 2001: Space Odyssey robot voice and would dictate anything typed, many hours were spent making it say curse words. Good times!

- On a semi-political note, Matt sat next to Al Gore's daughter at a wedding.

- Pete finally made Anda an honest woman and they were officially married on November 7th, 2007.

- Etsy admin TeenAngster, HeyMichelle and MaryMary are P ainfully Hip. (Scroll down to find us. We love our Wardrobe Remix!)

World-reknowned architect Maya Lin visited the Etsy Labs to talk shop about websites with Rob aka Rokali. Rumor has it that she's working on a new top-secret project and counts Jared's visualization work on Etsy as inspiration. She remarked that she loves Etsy and was seen carrying a cool bag made of recycled Cambodian shopping bags. She's excited for Halloween and is making her daughter's costume herself — we told her to check out the Halloween Costume Contest! (All celeb-hounding joking aside, we were really excited to meet her and we admire her work.)

Cool-hunters from A&E were busting down the doors of Etsy Labs, looking for epi-centers of Brooklyn hotness this morning. Matt and Charles aka winenutnyc turned them on to buying handmade and why people are so passionate about the Etsy community.

The Portland Team forerunners sprinted over to Etsy Labs after their red-eye flight from PDX. How can Mary, Adrienne, and Leah be so wide awake after their flight? Could it be the hugs from Rokali that keep them bright-eyed and bushy-tailed??? Littleputbooks, Misspurl, mmmfiber, prettythingsjewelry, Leahpellegrini, Urbana, and Daisychains will all be representing and selling their fine handmade goods on Friday, October 26 at their trunk show at the Labs.

Majestica shocked and entertained those brave Etsians who followed along their reptilian costume-making Online Workshop last night. The workshop lasted into the wee hours and then the lizards creeped out to invade NYC with their slithering ways. They did not return until 5am. Unidentified sources tell us that the green spandex — the pre-owned material scavenged for the costumes — reeked of cat urine. For those of you making your reptilian costumes at home, submit your photos via storque@etsy.com.

Admin Julieincharge has scandalized the community by making giant Etsy drapes...in the nude. She jury-rigged a handmade Etsy.com billboard of sorts, capitalizing on the large, drafty windows of the Etsy Labs and the main Brooklyn thoroughfare on which the Labs are situated. Passerby on Flatbush Ave have a good view of the 6th fl. With ever shorter daylight hours and ever longer work days for Etsy admin, that means more night-time, glowy free advertising!

We have also used the drapes as backdrops when we go to craft fairs and events, such as this shot from CraftyBastards.
