Alison, that is absolutely beautiful!! Sorry I have nothing to add. My grandmother grew up in the old west and carried a loaded pistol in her purse and had another in her night table. Sadly, not so artistic. I'll look for the videos though - this is very cool!

My grandma has made lots of crocheted bedspreads, one for every children and grandchildren. I got to choose my pattern when I was a little kid (though I have to say I maybe could have waited a bit longer - mine is lovely, but my bigbrother chose his pattern even better). Grandma has also made lots and lots of other things for us, like these gorgeus handwoven linen tablecloths. I can't make a video though, I haven't been able to bring them to Mexico yet. Sorry! But I so glad that my grandma has been able to teach me so many things... And btw, she's now 92 years old and is still crocheting and knitting woollen socks for all the family!

Nice - sweet story and a lovely quilt too!

My grandmother is the one who taught me to bake (when I was THREE< I kid you not) and to crochet - she waited until I was twelve for that. She used to make all her own lace when she was a girl as the family wasn't wealthy enough to buy fancy items with lace. She told me she put her own handmade lace on all her "undies" ;)
