In the United States, we are gathering together with family and friends this Thursday to celebrate Thanksgiving, a day of gratitude for all we have. For fellow Etsians outside the U.S., it may be just another day hard at work; nevertheless, it is a good reason to take pause and thank each of you for being our partners in this wildly wonderful and inspiring venture we call Etsy.

As Etsy grows, the responsibilities we have to our community also grow. We take our responsibility very seriously. It is humbling to know that so many of you have come to depend on the service we provide. We are grateful for your support and will strive to continually earn your loyalty.

Over the course of 2009, I’ve had the great pleasure of meeting many Etsy sellers not only in the U.S., but also in Canada and Europe. Next year, I hope to meet in person with many more members of our global community. It is incredibly motivating to hear your stories and to understand what Etsy means to you. I am excited and inspired by the possibilities of what we can accomplish together.

Here’s to you, your many achievements, your vast creativity, and your immense talent.

but, maria, if etsy wants to thank us, i'd love it to be in the form of not charging us potentially large (a previously listed item of mine would have garnered $147 fvf) final value fees on items that we didn't sell (such as a return situation). as long as etsy is taking commission on something we didn't even sell, i won't be getting any warm fuzzies. it feels more like a kick in the stomach.

Etsy has become a place near and dear to my heart. Through all the lessons on improving our shops, inspired featured artists, personal growth as a result of learning, speed bumps, trials and tribulations, Etsy has remained my favorite place to buy and sell all things handmade, vintage (to drool over) and the coolest of supplies. (Is it possible for me to make a longer run on sentence? Whew...I'm out of breath!)

Is it possible to give belated thanks? Etsy is an incredibly cool and inspirational community. I remember hearing about it a couple of years ago and visiting the site but hung back from joining until this year. Its been a boon for selling as well as finding items, but I like to cruise around and just window shop, too. There is some amazing design and craft out there and for that I am grateful. Well...it's a little late...but for your Christmas...i love this website...keep up the good work. Could you add a category that is opposite of "keep it weird" maybe call it "keep it traditional?" maybe? But the website is still awesome. Can you maybe feature Nativity scenes?
