Happy Bastille Day to our French friends!

Today we travel to France to visit the studio of illustrator Anne Cresci, a.k.a. matilou. She gave French journalist
Fabrice Guilloud and her husband Laurence, who made this video, a tour of her Lyon workshop. Illustrating children's books was just her start — after she discovered Etsy, she branched out to selling prints of her drawings, then jewelry and other items.

Anne clearly revels in the pink and girly — but her work is also a bit melancholy. A touch of darkness gives her sweet drawings their edge.

She imagines that teenage girls are drawn to her work — but we think girls of all ages will love it. Check out her shop here.

Joyeux 14 juillet à tous nos amis français !

Aujourd'hui nous voici en France pour rendre visite à l'illustratrice Anne Cresci alias Matilou. Elle a fait visiter son atelier boutique aux journalistes Laurence Guilloud et Fabrice qui en ont fait une vidéo.

Illustrer des livres pour enfants n'a été que le début , à partir du moment où elle a découvert Etsy, elle s'est mise à vendre des impressions de ses illustrations ainsi que des bijoux illustrés et pleins d'autres petits objets.

Anne a un style très girly, mais son travail a un petit côté mélancolique, une touche de noirceur qui lui donne une profondeur supplémentaire.

Elle pense que les ados aimeront son style, mais nous pensons que les filles de tous les âges vont l'aimer! Aller faire un tour dans sa boutique ici.

I recently bought two copies of Anne's book, "Comment Te Dire?" and I highly recommend it. The text is whimsical and the illustrations lovely!
