On July 2, 2007, the Etsy Labs had the pleasure of hosting new media consultant and educator Antonio Gould for an informative lecture, both in person and in our online Workshop. (Previously mentioned in the blog here...)
As a Digital Media Consultant, Antonio's talk "The Global Microbrand: Using the Web to Stay Small whilst Selling all over the World" focused on useful tools and methods for entrepreneurs to take small businesses to a global level, while maintaining a niche market. The goal for this type of business-person is to create a sustainable business but to remain hands-on and have creative control over their products.
Antonio's many business examples, brainstorming tools and helpful resources were enough to get anyone inspired about their small business! He also explained the value of utilizing podcasting and video on blogs, connecting with others through social networking sites, and keeping up to date on what your fellow bloggers are doing.
The list of resources Antonio referenced in his talk are here in PDF form, for your viewing pleasure. Thanks so much to Antonio for coming in and giving such a great lecture!

We've posted a series of videos from his talk on the web. Click above for the first installment and check out the Etsy blip page for the rest of our videos.
Special shout-out to Xiane for being the guinea pig shop which the group critiqued! The Labs and online Workshop audiences checked out her blog, MySpace, and Etsy shop. It was a challenge to integrate both the online and offline groups live and in real time. We learned a lot and the next event will be even better!

Wow - that's fascinating stuff. Thank you all *so much* for sharing it for those of us who can't hop a plane to Brooklyn on a moment's notice : )
