"What do I know of man's destiny? I could tell you more about radishes." — Samuel Beckett
This week's edition of News From the Craft + Style Blogosphere has lustrous hair creations, beautiful bus rolls (my newest and most favorite of lists, with fonts that make my heart go pitter patter), and a textural take on portraiture that makes me ache to be a sculptor.
Read on!

Stylist and photographer Max Attenborough makes every type of house seem warm and comforting (and activates the covetous section of my brain). My big discovery from this? Bus rolls as decorative props. Who needs maps when you can have the written word? (And you can find them on Etsy.) [Via Desire to Inspire]
I think I have a new art crush. You see, I've always had a fascination with the face and its many varied representations in visual art (self portraits, dolls, etc.), and photographer Robyn Cumming has taken that idea and given it a vividly textural treatment. [Via Modish]
Mixed media and sculpture always gets my attention. There's something about the combination of materials and three dimensional scale that invites interaction...and maybe even touch. (I know you're not supposed to, but how can I not when there's hair or fur involved?) These pieces bring to mind Meret Oppenheim's work. Did I mention that the skull at the bottom is actually a sensory deprivation chamber? Can I get on the list for that, please? [Via Les Carnets du Design]

Yay! Glad to see the news of the Craft & Style Blogosphere this week.
I especially like the mixed-media mushrooms or trees. The sensory deprivation chamber I admire, but find scary. The faceless people are fascinating too.

For someone for whom faces are the favorite part of the photo, that face series up there freaked me right out. But I loved it! Great stuff...

I found the bright and rich floral arrangements to be particularly beautiful against the distressed, white painted backdrop. Everything else was very intriguing as usual! :o)

the face sculpture work is intriguing. is is unsettling not to able to see even a hint of someone's face and expression... even though there is a whole body there, they almost don't feel human without a face we can see.

Lovely article once more! The photography by Robyn Cumming is both fascinating and eerie; a really nice take on human personality through varied textures. Max Attenborough's stylings are nothing short of magnificent! thanks!

The bus rolls are fantastic! The old electric buses (kinda half bus/half trolley) had them as well as the rapid transit trains. I'd love to find one.

I am intrigued by that skull/sensory deprivation chamber. I have read up on what it's like to be in one but never experienced it for myself. It's supposed to be really cool after a while. I am so high energy though I don't know if I'd survive! Hehehe. I'd probably emerge after 5 minutes thinking it had been 5 hours, and wondering why I felt nothing.
Great photographs here. They make you look twice. I love how the photographer is playing with different textures and materials.
