Rokali's Ironing-board Chat (Podcast 1)
Article Header Image

Last week I posted in the forums, asking for questions about Etsy which I'd answer in a Podcast. Well, here is that Podcast. It's the first one I've done so there's not much fanfare or effects.

You can listen to the entire Podcast here:

Or you can listen to each segment below. I chose 3-5 questions for each the following six categories, plus an Intro and Outro:

Etsy as a Company

Etsy as a Marketplace

Etsy as a Website

Etsy as a Community

Etsy's Policy

Marketing and Etsy

If there are more questions you'd like answered, please post them in the comments here and I'll get them into the next podcast of my Ironing-board Chat.

WOW! I only listened to about half of it and had to stop for band practice, but I have to check in and say:

Wow, what a totally cool person this Rob guy is!

I'm excited about many of the things he hinted at. Etsy is such a cool thing.

Thank you!

well done podcast. thank you, rob.

I do have another question: What kinds of things on Etsy make you cringe?
typo's? bad photos? the mis-use of doilies?

Rob, You are an amazing person,... the love and care you are putting into Etsy shines through brightly, while I sit here listening! Even my husband stopped what he was doing, to come and listen! (That takes a Very Special Person!)

Thanks for taking the time to do this "Ironing Board Session"... You bring the human element of Etsy to the forefront with your energy, and love for your work! Thank you!

rob, thank you for taking the time to connect with your community.....hearing your voice personally answer some "many asked" questions brings a human touch to this site. you obviously pour your heart and soul into etsy, and it shows. i'm looking forward to a weekly "ironing board session", as it's important to us to know what's in store!

thanks so much for doing this! it's very much appreciated!

You are a genius in my humble opinion! Until now rather a "mystery man", now we know the face and voice behind Etsy, you look so young, your Mother must be very proud of you! Thanks, answered a lot of questions too!

Rob...thanks for all the info. Great work! Full steam ahead...last holiday season was a bit of a trial but hopefully this year all systems are go! Been here for almost 2 years and it has been a wonderful marketplace for me. My two suggestions are to :
1) to have another collaborative competition...like your first one was...what fun to create in teams with etsiers from all over the world.
2) Have a bulletin board type feature in Storque where we can post announcements of exhibitions that our work is included in so local folks could go and see our actual creations which ultimately could lead to more etsy sales.

Great beginning for the podcasts! I love etsy and can't believe the gorgeous things I have found! It's like a free museum that's available any time you want to look at beautiful, fascinating things. I have made many purchases and all the craftspeople have been so helpful and totally honest. I am just a huge fan!

Thanks Rokali, for taking the time to answer a few of the Etsy community's questions. I have questions and comments of my own, but they are far too involved and space-intensive to post here. I've added them to this thread:

I really enjoyed listening to the first podcast. I think this is a great addition to the Etsy community.
Can I be on the Oprah show with you, pretty please?
Before the first podcast, someone in the forums asked if the founders had ever considered if the company might go public someday. I think it would be interesting to hear an answer to that question. In addition, I'd like to ask if, instead of going public, Etsy might someday be member owned. Just curious to hear your thoughts on this...
Thanks again,
Amanda
