On Mondays, the Labs has been opening up its doors and supplies coffers to anyone who wants to come by and make things.  This Monday, November 12th (Veterans Day, yes it's true, we're open), we'll have special guests: admin from Instructables.com will be visiting from San Francisco and would like to meet some Etsians.  So for those of you in NYC, come on by.  For those of you online, we will fire up the old Online Workshop with webcam, so you can join us virtually.

Instructables.com is a thriving online community of people who make things and want to share their knowledge in the form of online tutorials.  Instructables and Etsy co-sponsored the Sew Useful Contest this past summer and we're brainstorming ideas for another contest (any ideas? post in comments below!).

The Labs ladies have planned to do some fun fiber-related activities and will be sharing tips on upcycling and reconstructing sweaters. We're inspired by our coming visit from EtsyFAST (Fiber Arts Team) on November 16th, from 6pm-8pm at the Labs, where you'll be able to buy amazing fiber art directly from the makers. But on Monday the 12th, be prepared to make something of your own ( to keep, to sell, or to giv as a nice handmade gift!).  If you have some old sweaters you want to use, bring them with you.  HeyMichelle recommends washing them in the washing machine first to get a nice felted effect.  But as with every Monday, you can use our supplies for free and we'll have some extra sweaters on hand.

The Etsy Labs are open for usage and visitors from 4pm-8pm each Monday: bring your friends and make things with company! Need to use the space or want to see the office?
