Dear Sellers,
I am happy to report that the U.S. Copyright Office is now accepting electronic filing of copyright registrations. Previously, I reported that the Copyright Office was conducting a beta test of this system. Advantages of Electronic Copyright Office (eCO) system include:
• Lower filing fee of $35 for a basic claim (for online filings only)
• Fastest processing time
• Online status tracking
• Secure payment by credit or debit card, electronic check, or Copyright Office deposit account
The U.S. Copyright Office's website has a great tutorial to help get you started. I have registered some of my work using the old school paper system (my personal favorite) and I tried out the beta test of the web-based registration system (save yourself a headache and turn off your pop up blocker), but I have yet to try out the eCO system. If you get a chance try out the eCO, please let me know what you think!

I was part of the beta test program for our designs and I thought it was a really great service. I'm so happy to know they've graduated it to a full program. I've done electronic filing several times with the beta test and would definitely recommend it to anyone.
Thanks for keeping us informed!

This is great news. But how do we protect our work if we feel someone has copied?

just now became a member, trying to read everything I can find before I start to try and sell...sooo much great info. One question, I was looking on the Alchemy page, mostly under the painting, drawing, designing logos requests and most of them wanted to see sketches, examples, designs, etc of what they were asking for. What keeps them from getting all these ideas from artists and then copying them for themselves without ever accepting any bids? I guess I'll be up awhile because there is so much to absorb! :)

This is wonderful info! I'm new to Etsy and online selling, so I'm very interested to learn from everyone!
Thanks!

Hi, I guess it a bit cheaper for you guys. I'm Canadian, boy it is expensive.

Oh, neat! :) I know it's hard to know for sure if a sketch or design you show to someone is going to get stolen, but I haven't had any bad experiences with Etsy so far, and everyone I've met has been just fantastic, so I'm just going on blind faith that no one will take my design and use it themselves or through someone else. Maybe I'm too trusting [and I probably am], but I can only hope that no one will do such a thing. Hooray for Etsy!

thank you so much for this info! the paper work and websites dealing with sending in hard copies to get copyrighted were so confusing to me. Just checked out the tutorial for the electronic submissions, and it seems pretty easy!
