Bikes for All!

I once read a quote (I don't remember where, sadly) that summed up my feelings on the nature of bikes. It went something along the lines of, "The most precious gift you can give a friend is the freedom that comes with riding a bicycle. It's one of life's small pleasures that everyone should be afforded."

Pretty apropos, wouldn't you say? Biking is eco-friendly (park that car, sir!), a healthy move for the ol' ticker and allows you to get where you're going with your body as the motor, which is always something to feel good about. This collection of bike accessories and bike inspired items is a start toward your future bike travels.

So, dear friends, I'd give you all a bike if I could! Until then, be it cruiser, track or mountain bike, get out there and start riding today!

I haven't had a car for quite a while now and my bike is hard to ride in this Michigan winter. How can she live near "Motown" and not have a "Mo" you ask? It isn't easy.

I grew up on my bike, that was my car, rain or shine. Since moving to Chicago I've had three bikes stolen and was doored (badly) but that hasn't stopped me! Just slowed me down alittle.

There's a quote from HG Wells: "Every time I see an adult on a bicycle I no longer despair for the future of the human race" Rumor has it that Einstein thought of the theory of relativity while riding his bike. A great way to start riding a bike is late at night when the city is still and the streets are empty canyons for you to fly through, silent but for your spinning wheels. . . (remember to use your lights!)

My husband got me hooked on bicycles when we were in college. That was 25 years ago, so I have a soft spot in my heart for cyclists. He used to race, but now we just do it for fun.

An organizaton in the town next to me collects used bikes to send to children, for, well transportaton, but also for the pure joy of riding.

We have a great cycling community here in Victoria BC. There's the Bike Lab society that gets teenagers building their own bikes from recycled bikes and Spokes that fixes old bikes and gives them out to students. We also have our very own bicycle dance troupe. . .and a bicycle art show. . .
