Etsy Finds: LAZZZZZZER

I like good drawings and I like lasers, so I love NBsCloset's work, including this awesome dog pendant. The cool thing is that he uses digital vectorizing skills: he applies these talents to the physical world by laser cutting materials and etching designs onto pendants.

This video is a screen capture that shows the process that NBsCloset goes through to make a vector portrait drawing. You can check out more of his videos on his YouTube page.

My friend just bought a lazer cutting machine, can't wait to experiment with it! Remember when we were kids and lazers were like a thing from comics? They're real now!

I started designing laser cut pieces after finding http://ponoko.com, and entering their contest for laser cut summer jewelry. It's tooootally addictive. I actually signed up for a design class to become more efficient and designing pieces for laser cut. Super fun!

Really interesting and cool stuff. I am surprised that Yaelfran was not added to this lazer list! They have been on the 'cutting edge' for awhile now! I am a Yaelfran fan..now say that 3 times real fast!

"The cool thing is that he uses digital vectorizing skills: he applies these talents to the physical world by laser cutting materials and etching designs onto pendants."

Vectoring already *is* in the physical world. Graphic designers design packaging that ends up on shop shelves, screen-printers layout their designs before preparing their screens...I even design some of the elements of my hand-cut collages in Illustrator.

That's what digital art is for - real world applications. It's about time people stopped thinking of digital art as something insubstantial & abstract.
