Every spring, I start to see articles about spring cleaning that make me feel totally lazy and uninspired. Dusting on top of the ceiling fan? Cleaning behind the toilet? Scrubbing every millimeter of grout in the bathroom with a toothbrush? Boring, and soooo not gonna happen!
I have recently reformed my messy ways with a new outlook on cleaning. Focus on beauty and enjoyment, and the rest comes together.
For example, my abode was smelling kinda (ok, really) stale from having the windows closed all winter and chain smoking. I recently quit, and when my sense of smell returned, I discovered what everyone else already knew - that my apartment smelled like a wet 'n' musty ashtray. Now, I guess lugging all the curtains, cushions, pillows, fabric, and all to the laundromat or dry cleaner would be the proper way to de-stinkify (maybe one day), but I discovered an easier way. I treated myself to an incense shopping spree on Etsy, opened the windows wide and burned the stuff non-stop. The ciggy smell is totally gone, replaced with Toasted Almond and Pumpkin Spice. Mmmm, now that's housekeeping!
I've also noticed that when the cleaning supplies themselves are pretty, I'm much more likely to use them. I have a lovely cream-colored crocheted dishcloth along with some woven tea cloths from Etsy, and I feel so much more inspired to wipe down the kitchen counter with these pretties. Plus, I feel better because I'm doing good for the environment. Yes!
So, whether you're the messy-type who's trying to whip things into shape, the cleaning-perfectionist type who's about to start tackling the ceiling fan, or somewhere in between, treat yourself to some nice supplies to get the job done!

Great finds and I like the sound room spray!
I hate cleaning the house, but always feel better once I've done it :)

I just realized, that in fact, I have five ceiling fans in need of dusting! I really need inspiration. Maybe some Glam Goves?

Great article. And yes is so much more wonderful to clean with pretty things and with eco friendly and non toxic cleaners. I'm definitely one of the cleaning perfectionist!

HeyMichelle!
Big Cheers to you!!! I too just recently ended my love affair with smoking this winter. I never smoking indoors, but my nose is thanking me for new yummy scents & still being able to smell the shampoo in my hair a few hours after I shower. Happy Spring Cleaning with all the pretties! =)

I love springcleaning. Usually I find all kinds of yarn, ribbons, buttons and such that I forgot I had.
And with the items you found it has got to be fun. Especially the apron =^x^= .

Hey guys! Thanks for the awesome comments! Ha, you ceiling-fan cleaners are starting to inspire me! And that dusting-mitt is starting to call my name- if I had something pretty like that that didn't need to be hidden away, maybe my table-tops might get a more regular dust-down. Oh, and I found this too- http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?... a reusable swiffer cover! Now that is awesome...

Oh, and congrats to CMEdesign- yesss! I love smelling and tasting things again. Spring!

Very fresh and inspiring Michelle. It sounds and looks appealing with these Etsy goodies. I have three ceiling fans that haven't been dusted in eight years! Maybe this time...
