Featured Buyer: Kathy Malone of Brooklyn Indie Market
Kathy Malone, aka fofolle, has been creating tangible links between the offline and online worlds of Etsy. We invited her to be this week's Featured Buyer and asked her to highlight some of her favorite Brooklyn sellers, thus showing us her personal Shop Local. I love a thing that is but should not be, like cashmere imprinted on these porcelain clay tumblers by alyssaettinger. Brilliant! Carina's work, like this luxe sweater, is sooo rich! Wear a Black Rabbit NYC original, have some champagne, feel exquisite. Find beauty and meaning in BuntaBlock's line, which uses antique, hand carved wood blocks from India. This shirt is a prime example. It's true! Your cool is gone, but in your kid it lives on, so get your No Sleep Til Brooklyn onesie from Daisyhead. This piece by Imaan of eswerajewelry really speaks to me as a textile obsessed, former-wanderlust-lost lass. All of her work possesses a fetishistic quality that I respond to. My birthday is in February... Jane Buck of foxyandwinston can just illustrate the pants off of anybody. She also brings her British sensibilities to her work, and boy can they do creatures over there. Anyone who watched Magic Roundabout and Paddington knows what I am talking about. I'm drawn to all of Kristen Eno's (of halflight) pod work and pod paintings. There is something sinister and unstoppable about a seed. Why? karensmonsters all have names and personalities and touchability. Because of this, she makes sure that little monsters like Babette are all placed in loving homes. ![]() If I could spell a whistle sound, I would when it comes to Melissa Bell's (aka melbell333) sexy, flattering dresses. Everyone looks amazing in them. ![]() I have not owned a clock until purchasing a New York clock from newyorkclocks. Why? Because its found art, functional and time. ![]() PrincessVivi's backround in painting, sculpture and architecture makes her creations irresistible, and no two pieces are alike! ![]() Katharine of reiter8 had the inspired idea of rescuing old sailboat sails and repurposing them into extremely stylish and durable totes. #35 is my new lucky number. Being a clothing designer, when I find a designer who can design like kcoline, I make it a mission to own a piece from that line. Her fabrics and lines are high quality, highly finished and made to last. Further Resources: Finger to the Pulse Stuff What's your favorite local shop? Post it in the comments!
