Etsy's Handmade Blog
Zines!

Did you know there is a large zine community on Etsy? It's true! You don't have to go to a zine fest to get some awesome zines!

For those of you who might not be familiar with zines let me fill you in a bit. The word "zine" (pronounced "zeen") is abbreviated from "fanzine," short for "fan magazine." Zines started back in the day, like waaaay back in the day. Some people consider Benjamin Franklin a zinester!  But more commonly zines are known for their Sci-Fi fandom origins.

Today there are tons of zines about tons of subjects and you can find oodles right here on Etsy. The best way to find out what a zines are all about is to jump into the world of underground publishing and start reading!

Awesome! I love zines too, and that is like one of the funnest things to shop for on Etsy. JulieinCharge (fellow admin) and I have a sort of zine club. Well, not so much a "club", more like, "hey, I just got a new zine, check it out". They're the perfect little splurge!

Dude! And I am freaking out over here! Ayun Halliday is on Etsy!? Wow, this is awesome, I am *such* a fan!

Cool finds, mymy!

Had an art zine some time ago and it was a collaborative postcard+short stories project carried out at Nervousness (anyone remember that?). Love that zine a lot. Thanks for the article, now I know where I can get my hands on some zines here. Croq perhaps. :)

Yay! for all things zines.
I publish two, one called The Fabric Arts Zine and the other is Odd Ball Charm. So much fun to create and share ideas with others.

Thanks for the article.

yay zines! I love trading zines through etsy and checking out all different themes and formats. I make everything from basic photocopied zines to elaborate one-of-a-kind art zines and love to check out the range that's out there too!

I gotta tell you I'm so pleased to learn the correct pronunciation of zines. I've been a fan of art zines and through this article learned there's a whole world out there of zines I never knew about!

Thanks!
