Lately I've found myself gravitating toward the idea of a Gothic love story. I've fallen prey to the hit vampire series True Blood, and I'm looking forward to the upcoming sequel to Twilight, a movie series depicting the notion of a forbidden dark love. There's just something mysterious about an unattainable, slightly supernatural romance: am I right, ladies? If you're drawn to a darker aesthetic, I think you might like our Steampunk and Noir style guide.
Without further ado, I bring you my Etsyfied interpretation of a dark romance.

Ooh! That coffin couch is spooooky -- very cool. I think you're right, Mary, there is something to be said for that dark supernatural romance. My finace is naturally not too mysterious, so we may have to spice up the style with some steampunk / noir etsy items :)

Great collection! I have fallen victim to the same thing. Have read all the Twilight books, anxiously awaiting the new movie. Loving the beginning of this seasons True Blood, and reading all the books for that series.
Those of you loving books, the House of Night Series is good, just finished those 5. The first book is called Marked.

Just for informational purpose: Both of your references are based on book series. True Blood is based on Charlaine Harris's Southern Vampire/Sookie Stackhouse series, starting with Dead Until Dark.
(Stephenie Meyer is the author of Twilight, etc., though I feel that's pretty well known.)
For some sexy, adult vampire series, check out Lara Adrian and JR Ward. They're not literary masterpieces, but some nice, sexy fluff is good for you every once in a while :)

Are you right?.... Heck ya!! That's exactly what I was feeling when I created my "Midnight Blood" Halter top! http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?... I, too, love the Twilight series. I hate that I have to wait to see the new movie. I am loving the True Blood Series. I find myself excited for Sundays! lol. I know the vampire books were for the younger crowd, but what can I say, I'm addicted! lol. There isn't anything else out there that compares, in my opinion.

Oh, and I have read the House of Night Series by P.C Cast. Oh, my goodness, those are good reads as well. Twilight is #1 though. I did an internet search and heard good things about the series. The next book doesn't come out for a couple of months though. I feel like they are leading us on. It is so hard to wait! lol.

I don't watch either but I grew up with 'the Lost Boys', and Bram Stoker's Dracula and still adore both. If you love a little humor with your dark romance, go for "Van Helsing" and "Dracula, Dead and Loving It."

Just saw the first episode of the 2nd season of True Blood, marvelous.
A really great vampire book is "Fledgling" by Octavia Butler, it's a different vampire universe where several humans live together with vampires in families.
I wonder how comfortable the Coffin Couch is? It is definately a stunner.

Definitely something to the supernatural romance of the vampiric world! I am NOT a scary/dark/thriller movie fan, but Vampire movies... that's a different story! Love 'em. And, love the choices featured here! Found some new faves and very happy to see "Transmutation" featured-- became a fan of her work a while ago. Besides being a talented photographer, she's a wonderful person-- deserves the recognition. Great spotlight article Mary.

Wow I've always loved vampires and gothic lifestyle. Although not thrilled much with the Twilight fad, but these finds are beautiful and timless in my eyes, for those of us who walk the "Savage Garden" with open eyes. ^_~

fangtastic stuff, Mary....For all y'all who need some steamy vamp read over the summer....re-visit Anne Rice books and the Lestat stories. Her other (even better) series was the Mayfair witch series.. Lots of steamy New Orleans and globe hopping fun. Excellent writer.

I became intrigued by the vampire romance theme back when Interview with a Vampire hit the screens, making me fall in love with Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles. A must read for any newbie in this genre.
