Etsy Finds Decor: Community Gardens

Christine

This weekend's Get the Look: Decor is inspired by the wonderful spirit behind community gardens.  Even though I live in the big city, I am lucky to have access to many public gardens in my neighborhood that allow me to get my hands dirty. These little patches of green offer a peaceful setting in the middle of an environment composed of tar, pavement and skyscrapers.

Getting involved in a community garden in your area is a great way to meet your neighbors, help beautify your streets, and it is also an effective method to promote earth-friendly awareness.  I’ve used the photos from Brooklyn’s Backyard Garden, a community garden located in the Columbia St. Waterfront District neighborhood as my inspiration for the following Etsy Finds.

Visit the Community Garden flickr pool to view even more photos of neighborhood gardening projects from around the world and be sure to check out the following Etsy Finds for a bit of inspiration to start your own community garden or to add a bit of character to your own backyard garden.

Great post! Community gardens are such a wonderful idea, particularly great for urban dwellers or those who have no room for a vegetable garden in their yard. Love these picks, particularly the minnow bucket (reminds me of childhood fishing with Dad) and the painted flower pots!

Love gardens & garden art! Our gardens & yard were approaching a PeeWee's Playhouse 'creativity' level a few years back but we toned it down quite a bit. Still have the life size vintage concrete donkey & Mexican guy w/ sombrero. An old concrete seal hides in the hosta island. Big fun!
