This weekend's Get the Look: Decor is inspired by the British Columbia home of Etsy seller April of WhiteApple. She shares an apartment in an Arts and Crafts era building with her boyfriend Shane. April says her decorating style is inspired by everything around her, especially the colors of the West Coast, mossy trees, Wes Anderson, Ukiyo-e, Charles Voysey, the Victorians and the Mods.
The historical elements within their home, as well as their Victorian style furniture, remind me of weekend trips to my grandmother's house — and I mean that in a very good way! Their home has managed to capture a cozy, romantic old fashioned feeling, with just a hint of modern charm.

Landscape 70 24x24inch original oil painting
Living down the street from several antique and thrift stores, April is always on the lookout for great used furniture and accessories. I love the way she used a gorgeous vintage landscape painting as inspiration for the color palette in her living room. This large-scale oil painting by RozArt has a great color scheme that is sure to inspire a complete room makeover. By RozArt, $200.
Victorian décor includes many luxurious fabrics like velvet and lace. This bold graphic velvet pillow puts a more modern twist on an old fashioned fabric. By ukdesigns, $35.

This rewired pendant lamp is the perfect shade of green to highlight the lush greenery seen in landscape paintings. Its simplicity will complement any style of home décor. By kamlampcompany, $95.
April explains her home decorating style as having a maximalist aesthetic. “The collections may change throughout the years, but one thing is certain: I like stuff! I love being surrounded by things that I love and that inspire me. At the moment my collections include lighting, Japanese textiles, Japanese figurative ceramics, Blue Mountain pottery, and Victorian furniture. Shane collects records and musical instruments, and combined we have a shoe collection that would put Imelda Marcos to shame!” I think I see plenty of room on the windowsill for one more ceramic figurine. Vintage Coffee Tin w/Succulent
The abundance of plants helps to add a touch of new life to the historical details of April and Shane's nearly hundred-year-old Arts and Crafts era building. April says she loves “the feeling of history, and imagining the past incarnations of our apartment” and appreciates the character details that still remain, including “the nearly hundred-year-old windows that rattle in the wind, and the old radiators that clang when the heat comes on, and the poor neglected wooden floors that stab us with their bountiful splinters.” From imwishfulthinking, $20.

Yellow and Cream Floral Pillow from a Tord Boontje Print Upholstery Wool
April works part time as a merchandiser for a housewares store that stocks the work of designer Tord Boontje. She owns several fabulous pieces from his collection, so I'm sure she'll appreciate this pillow made from remnants of Boontje's upholstery fabric. By ouno, $150.
