My closet...well, it's a bit of a mess. There's always a pile of clothing that's just not quite right: "This skirt is too short, but the suede is so gorgeous...And the color is so amazing!" These thoughts ultimately lead to the nearest charity (as one woman's trash is another's treasure). The kicker is that getting rid of old things allows me to go on guilt-free Etsy benders to look for new things, and today's collection of repurposed clothing will not disappoint. I've composed a most exquisite mix of recycled clothing and accessories, reworked into new pieces that will fit just right. Now if I can only find something that includes worn green suede...
This extra-long top (yes!) was made from a recycled cotton jersey 80's dress (minus the shoulder pads). By astronette, $48.
burgandy scroll freestyle bow tie
For the dapper man, only a bow tie will do. This tie was lovingly repurposed from a vintage neck tie. By xoelle, $36.

This dress mixes the totally current floral trend with comfy jersey. Get it while it's hot! By elysiumdesign, $40.
This colorful mosaic-like silver belt buckle is inlaid with "tiles" of recycled license plate metal. By randitan, $39.
Pretty Birdie's Antique Flower Dress
Whoa! This dress is made from an antique quilt top and an antique cotton feed sack. You don't get more recycled character than this, folks. By stephanieteague, $265.
True Blue... Felted Merino Wool Slippers for Babies / Kids, Custom Size
These booties are handmade from a recycled, felted, 100% merino wool sweater and recycled leather (and can be custom sized to any little foot!). By woolybaby, $29.

Love it! Little did I know that what I was doing with my £5 a week in the 1980s was uprecycling and repurposing. I really loved the 1960's stuff I could get hold of then, had such fun chopping and sewing. Ha heady dayz. I have a wonderful new machine that's only been used twice in 10 years. It's so sad and lonely - i'll have to pull it out one day. In the meantime it beads and printing for me. Love it. Keep on cutting, shaping and sewing.
