Etsy Finds: Halloween Crafting

This Halloween the Wee Guy (my little boy) and I will be having a house guest, the amazing Aunty B (my lil' sis'). She's heard great things of Canadian Halloween happenings so we don't want to let her down. When Aunty B and I were wee girls, guising was the thing to do. We'd get all dressed up and parade ourselves around the village, singing songs, telling jokes and reciting poetry (!) in exchange for sweeties and fireworks money. Although Scottish festivities were always far more elaborate, less tricksy events than south of the border (i.e. England), they couldn't prepare me for All Hallow's Eve in Vancouver, BC, where whole houses are cobwebbed and front gardens dug over into chilling cemetery plots! So, we have a lot of work ahead of us. The Wee Guy and I will be in a crafting frenzy before her arrival to decorate the house in as scary a manner as possible—and I've found some supplies here on Etsy which might help...

4 Ceramic Skull Buttons- Round

Number one is the costume, of course, and I'm in great favour of K.I.S.S. (Keep It Simple...) Most of our costume requirements will be met from thrift stores, with handsome additions like these amazing ceramic buttons from happysilence to boost the spooky factor. $16.

Creepy Greedy Little Green Eyes Halloween Weird Polymer Clay Beads

I'm a scientist who makes jewelry: how could I not be impressed by these incredible anatomic eyeballs from valeriebeads? I predict extremely startling dangly earrings. (And they're in polymer clay, so they shouldn't weigh down your lobes). $15.

Six Polymer Clay Skully Beads

Another jewelry idea: a necklace fit for a scary zombie costume with skully beads from concertinapieces. String them in between lots of fruit loops and popcorn for an odd sort of zombie munching necklace for a much older (i.e. less tempted to nibble the beads) child. $2.

Magic Pumpkins--Needle Felted Pumpkins Kit--color photographs tutorial included

I love to dress up my home according to the seasons. What's better than home decorating accents you can make yourself? I am totally in love with fiber anyway, and this fuzzy handfelting kit from tizib feeds my need. $22.

Count Hamsterla Halloween Hamster Rubber Stamp E9712 - Wood Mounted

Pay homage to The Count with this cute vampire stamp from Rubberhedgehog. I just adore the Bela Lugosi hairline, and the image would be perfect on Halloween cards. $8.

Hand Tatted Spiders

Continue your embellishing with a spidery assortment of hand-tatted spiders from keenaskreations. (I'm also planning on leaving these around the house to see how many times I can get the screaming abdabs thinking they're real!) $4.

Jack O Lantern No. 1 Silk Carrier Rods 10 pieces

Tanisalexis first introduced me to silk carrier rods. They are a great addition to mixed media projects and these hand dyed rods in Halloween colours would guarantee spooktacular craft success. From prairiefibers, $6.95.

Acrylic Ghosts (Set of 4)

Used as templates, this cute acrylic ghost set from ymbd is a Halloween must-have for keeping the little ones amused. I foresee lots of amusingly coloured-in ghost outlines around my house. Afterwards hang the set from the rafters to swing eerily in the wind for the trick-or-treaters. $3.
