Food & Wine Associate Food Editor Emily Kaiser considers pretty much anything French to be good. Her love affair with the country has been lifelong, but only intensified after she spent one summer after college as a private chef to a French count and countess. In honor of Bastille Day on July 14, inspired by the French Riviera, she shares some of her favorite Francophile Etsy Finds.
Bastille Day is perhaps the best occasion for a summer soirée. You can serve lots of delicious chilled Provençal rosés, set out some easy French hors d’oeuvres and set the table with some of these Etsy Finds. I've included some links to yummy recipes throughout.

There are no better place cards for a Bastille Day party than jolipapier's “Bonjour” tags, complete with portraits of Marie Antoinette:
Our style editor, Jessica Romm, pointed me to these wonderful tea linens by elisabethbentz; they can protect picnic foods from the sun, in southern France or any backyard:

These vintage French linens from maisonreve would make lovely napkins or wraps for baskets of baguettes:

This "French Market" sign is from thebackporchshoppe in New Orleans, but it feels very Provençal. You could place it at your driveway to welcome your guests or hang it in your dining area:
This vintage enamelware pitcher from twoangelsinparis would be perfect for pouring cool cocktails. Find some recipes here.

bananasaurusrex’s fetching wine bottle wraps made from vintage fabrics are a fun, reusable and pretty way to bring a bottle to a party:
If I were going on a Bastille Day picnic I'd bring this vintage picnic basket from HelloVictory:
These handsome muddlers by Forest Treasures would come in handy for mixing red, white or blue cocktails in honor of the French tricolor. Get your muddler out for this Rhum Swizzle:

PaperEclectiques’ French-themed name tags would make charming labels for party favors:
I love ElizabethOcean’s watercolor print of a duchess wearing a spectacular ice-cream-sandwich hat. For more ideas, F&W has a dozen glamorous frozen desserts here.

Now I want to go on a french picnic.
I was just watching a BBC show called "Supersizers" - the episode was "eat the French Revolution". The hosts dressed as Marie Antoinette and Louis 16th, and had to eat the dishes of the time, lots and lots of meats and cakes(actually not as overindulgent or as bizarrely unapatizing as other episodes set in different eras). Then they dressed and ate as common people after the revolution. After that they ate a meal created by the world's first Restaurant critic.

" Bastille Day " is the French national holiday, celebrated on 14 July each year. In France, it is called Fête Nationale ("National Celebration") in official parlance, or more commonly le quatorze juillet ("14 July"). It commemorates the 1790 Fête de la Fédération, held on the first anniversary of the storming of the Bastille on 14 July 1789; the anniversary of the storming of the Bastille fortress-prison was seen as a symbol of the uprising of the modern nation, and of the reconciliation of all the French inside the constitutional monarchy which preceded the First Republic, during the French Revolution.
Festivities are held on the morning of 14 July, on the Champs-Élysées avenue in Paris in front of the President of the Republic.
The parade opens with many cadets from the École Polytechnique, Saint-Cyr, École Navale, and so forth, then other infantry troops, then motorised troops; aviation of the Patrouille de France flies above. In recent times, it has become customary to invite units from France's allies to the parade; in 2004 during the centenary of the Entente Cordiale, British troops (the band of the Royal Marines, the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment, Grenadier Guards and King's Troop, Royal Horse Artillery) led the Bastille Day parade in Paris for the first time, with the Red Arrows flying overhead.[1]
Traditionally, the students of the École Polytechnique set up some form of joke.
The president used to give an interview to members of the press, discussing the situation of the country, recent events and projects for the future. Nicolas Sarkozy, elected president in 2007, has chosen not to give it. The President also holds a garden party at the Palais de l'Elysée.
Bastille Day falls during the Tour de France and is traditionally a day when French riders try to take a stage victory for France, working harder than they might on other days.
Article 17 of the Constitution of France gives the President the authority to pardon offenders, and since 1991 the President has pardoned many petty offenders (mainly traffic offences) on 14 July. In 2007, President Sarkozy declined to continue the practice[2].
