I have a jewelry fetish and nervous hands. Thus I've found that my all time favorite bracelets have something in common: they are fun to play with — moving parts, nice jingle-jangle, little fascinating pieces. It's jewelry that keeps you from nail biting or smoking, to boot. Happily, this also coincides with the current trend (or resurgence of the 1950s trend by way of Queen Victoria) in charm bracelets.

Lucky Magazine's blog recently gave a nice nod to makepienotwar, who often uses charms in her designs.

I also have a bit of a nostalgic streak; relics and souvenirs pay homage to memories, help me remember the places I've been, or oftentimes, places I'd like to visit. Check out this beautiful vintage piece from MorningGlorious ($38). How about a jaunt to the Acropolis and island hopping in the Aegean this summer?

This charm bracelet by chrisn123 is a wearable ode to Hitchcock's The Birds. Such a perfect gift for any film buff.

I love the chain necklaces with a focal piece and little charm on one side. Those are my favorite! When I was a kid I had the plastic charms with unicorns, skates, etc...these are much nicer :)

I adore charms. I use them everyday and just love wearing bracelets and necklaces with them on. It's amazing how such a small piece of metal can represent something so much larger than itself - an event that's been comitted to memory or a feeling or emotion. I love charms as well! I received a charm bracelet from my aunt that chronicled her world travels (a charm from every country she visited.) While I was honored to receive it, I thought the bracelet should stay with her so I framed it in a shadowbox lined in dark burgundy velvet. Charms look equally great as art!

You can make your own personal talisman and change it as you do.
My favorite ring is one that I can change the bead on and twist it around. Very handy in stressful situations.
