Last week Matt shared some ideas and tips about Marketing with us in Munich. Some of the things he mentioned included:
- Defining a 'Mission Statement' for your business? Define what you value and what is important to you and build your business around that
- Making your everything around buying your products a delightful customer experience
- Having a great website, there is no excuse to have a bad looking website with all the free tools out there
- Offer good customer service
- Have a press page on your website with high res, 300 dpi images of your work, a bio, anything that a busy journalist might need
- Relist!
- Look up the media kit for a publication that might be interested in your stuff. The email nomenclature is probably the same throughout the company, so if you only have a journalists name, look at the email address of the advertising contact, and try it with the journalists name in the prefix instead. Ex. journalistsfirstname.journalistslastname@fancymagazine.com
- Use google analytics to track where your traffic is coming from and how much of it you are getting
What were some other tips! Feel free to write them in German too (I can't remember and translate at the same time!)

Thanks for sharing! I haven't got a press page yet, but I'll definitely be looking into that!

Great photos. Minimally, they show the product in nice white light with an uncluttered background. BUT, the best photos are those that tell a story, and is aspirational.
A picture can tell a thousand words, even in languages you cannot speak. Thankfully, even though my German sucks, my images were good enough to speak for themselves.
The next bit Matt has emphasised a few times, (he says it everytime I see him) is the aspect of storytelling. What you made is not just a thing, it has a background story. Something inspired you to make it, so tell it!
